What Network Management System (NMS) ?

Hi guyz,

What Network Management System (NMS) do you use to monitor your WISP network ? Free or paid system ?

What do you monitor and how ?

I'm thinking of using Cacti to monitor customer AP's (signal strenght etc.) but do anyone know if Cacti can send an alert, when a given treshold is reached, for instance low signal ? Or do I need something else for that ?

Cacti is pretty decent.

I'm a big Zabbix fan, although Nagios is still good as well.

Uh, radios, switches, windows machines, linux boxes, etc. Anything from disk statistics, cpu loads, latency, number of running processes, loadavg, RF rxbytes, RF txbytes, CCQ, etc. It depends on what device it is.

Combination of cacti and zabbix is the only way to go. Quick and painless to install and the best part is it's free.

Cacti for graphing bandwidth/signal/data rates/uptime/temperature etc etc.

Zabbix for alerts like up/down and max/min temperature. You can also use zabbix to graph bandwidth and also draw network maps. Zabbix does alot, I'm only using about %5 of what it can really do.
