Unlock AirOS frequency software limits (up to 6.4 gHz)

Hi all.
Using AirView with custom range of scan it is possible to scan frequences 4900 - 6400 Mhz.
Does anyone have successfull changes to AirOS firmware to unlock device ( software ) frequency limits? Would it work?
Thanks in advance.

I don't think so. I think, the AirView just uses some kind of frequency analyzer, therefore I think there's no hardware to make it work either. No I think NOPE, it wouldn't work.

P.S.: It is very good to hear that our devices can scan from 4.9 to 6.4 THz :icon_lol:

AirView uses the radio within the unit hence why you can't connect wirelessly and then do an airview.
In theory it's possible, but I doubt it's very efficient at those high frequencies.

Re: Unlock AirOS frequency software limits (up to 6.4 gHz)

Under the wireless tab change the country code to compliance test.

However please note, new hardware currently being shipped with -US on the product code and all future hardware will to locked to Legal frequencies of the U.S. until FCC certification for additional frequencies has finish. Meaning new hardware will only support 5.725-5.8 ghz will be available and usable due to new hardware.

Hi Dave,
With current products, the v5.5 (not v5.3.2) software allows an initial selection of country, and you can't change country code again unless you reset to defaults.
With current products, yes you can revert to any firmware you want to use.

In the future, products shipping into the US will be locked to the US country code only. You will still be allowed to downgrade to other firmware, but the country code operation will still be locked to the US. It will not be possible to use the products in illegal frequencies.

We are working on DFS bands in the US now, so hopefully we will be able to add official support for these soon.

I hope they ll not do the same for Europe.

Look at the dilemma. Product is shipping with a SDK , and most of it is opensource but locked to country specific regulations :manhappy:

Matt;
Are we going to be able to select "compliance test" in the initial country selection page ?

In Russia US laws is not working. :icon_lol:
Some fixes to SDK make it is possible of theoretical working in 4.9-6.4 Ghz range. I'm already done that ( cat /proc/sys/net/ath0/chanlist shows unlocked frequency range 4.9- 6.4 Ghz) and allows to pick it in direct channel selection (made some changes to web interface (SDK source)). Now choicing frequency other than 5.7, 5.8 Ghz shows successfull responces from hardware ( i mean no errors ). Gona do some live tests ( devices - NanoBridge M5 ).
As my own opinion, just one thing can refuse usage in that frequency - antenna.
Experiments with usage M2 equipment (2.3 Ghz - 2.7 Ghz) on NanoStation M2 is done successfull.

As comparison, Ubiquiti equipment costs much less than Proxim ( for example ) and works much better.

Re: Unlock AirOS frequency software limits (up to 6.4 gHz)

Hi could you provide yours patches?
Mikrotik seems to work from 4800MHz.
So if the Wireless IC is the same it should also be possible to unlock frequency list up to 4800MHz...
Sorry for my English.

Best Regards,
Alexander from Russia.
