Bullet M2 Recovery IP Address

I would like to flush the recovery firmware to Bullet M2. I have tried to ping the Bullet after pressing the reset button. However, pinging the Bullet M2 with 192.168.1.20 failed.

Please let me know what's the IP address for TFTP after pressing the Reset button.

Re: Bullet M2 Recovery IP Address

Two different questions...

1) If you press the Reset button in for at least 6 seconds, but no more than 8 seconds - the unit defaults to 192.168.1.20. If you hold it past 8 seconds it may lock up, so simply removing power for 30 seconds and starting it back up will get you going.

2) The TFTP process is different. Remove power from the unit, hold the Rest button in and apply power. Continue holding in the Reset for at least 8 seconds, then release it. The unit is now in Urescue mode at 192.168.1.20 and can be pinged.

Re: Bullet M2 Recovery IP Address

Hello,

Please try and upload the firmware to 192.168.1.20 anyways as ICMP may be disabled.
Thanks,

Re: Bullet M2 Recovery IP Address

i tried (2 times) all of the mentioned ip's to upload but non of them where working with tftp. neither any of them gave me a arp reply
are there possible more ip's that could be set in the uboot?

Only these IP's can be set or maybe in some way .144 and .146
What happened for device, that you need to do TFTP recovery for AirOS firmware? Maybe you are able to connect to the device when it boots up and upgrade firmware via WEB interface?

Re: Bullet M2 Recovery IP Address

So, it means that the HP M2 could not use TFTP mode for image downloading.

Hello,

Yes for some reason (firmware corruption likely) it could not TFTP.

Thanks,

Is this problem for "old" version of Bullet M2 and not the newer version?

We only have one version of Bullet M2.

If AirOS is running OK, then please first do upgrade AirOS to the latest build via WEB interface and then you suppose to be able to use default IP address (192.168.1.20) in TFTP recovery mode.

Re: Bullet M2 Recovery IP Address

No, after updating to the XM-v5.0.2.build2956.bin via Web Interface, I am still not able to do TFTP recovery mode. Are you sure that the update the kernel but without changing u-boot allows you to do so?

The latest AirOS version is v5.10-rc3 (www.ubnt.com/downloads/XN-fw-internal/5.1-RC/XM.v5.1-rc3.3493.091221.1842.bin).

Re: Bullet M2 Recovery IP Address

Nope, it's still the same with new firmware. TFTP to 192.168.1.20 is not working.

OK. One more solution, how to get correct IP address, which is set in u-boot environment configuration.
Go to address http:///admin.cgi and enter command "cat /dev/mtd1". There you will get u-boot environment configuration and variable ipaddr (i.e. ipaddr=192.168.1.31) will give you correct IP address, which is used in TFTP recovery mode.

P.S. What TFTP client you use, when uploading firmware image via TFTP recovery mode?

Re: Bullet M2 Recovery IP Address

I have checked the u-boot environment for my bullet M2 as follow:

ipaddr=192.168.1.20
serverip=192.168.1.254

I am using the similar method of downloading the firmware via TFTP client in Linux machine as what I have done for bullet 2 and 5:
such as:
1. Press the reset button for 20 seconds.
2. tftp 192.168.1.20 from Linux machine
> binary
> put XM.v5.1-rc3xxxxxx.bin

But not able to succeed.

After reset, ping the bullet M2 via Linux machine, no response from bullet M2 at all.
