UniFi across Subnets - possible?

I think this is true. Is it?

The UniFi Controller PC must be on the same subnet as the UniFi units.

In other words .. it is not possible to have one UniFi Controller manage UniFi units on different subnets...i.e. the other side of a Router.

Please find "Can I put the controller in a different subnet?"
