Need multi SSID Access Point with long range

I am looking for the best Ubiquiti product for outdoor applications that require multiple SSID's on the same VLAN and have WPA2-AES encryption. My company uses a simple Motorola MC17 802.11g handheld computers with a proprietary software in Amusement Parks for ride access control and other operations. Issue is the moving metal from all the rides in most locations as well as the ability to move units for say a carnival from one location to another. Some locations can be quite full of buildings and trees as well.

I need something cost effective as I will be using several AP's in a close proximity. I will need Bridges as well for end point POS devices.

I can only find the Unifi with multi SSID but I am not bothered with the Portal and Site Management as this will not be hosting guest clients, only my hardware access. Therefore the AirMax line looks right but don't know which one offers multi SSID.

Please email me your questions and/or post suggestions.

Re: Need multi SSID Access Point with long range

AFAIK, the multi-SSID is close, but not quite there yet in AirMax. It's doable behind the UI but not out of the box.
Unifi works great - and you don't need the controller if you don't want it - just run it on a laptop for initial config. The outdoor model is basically a rocket.
For bridging, a picostation as a client works great... or there's a bunch of other options as well. Depending on your expertise, you may need to bring in a pro.

Re: Need multi SSID Access Point with long range

You probably don't want this, but...

We provide hotspot firmware that loads on Nano/Pico and I could help you set it up just for your use, basically close the guest hotspot page off (use in future if you want?) and setup with multible SSID's as you require with WPA security.

Too funny. You're such a teaser. ;-)
There's a perpetual-thread devoted to products from "RFArmor.com" deeply rooted within the forum.

I need to confirm something.
I have previously been kicked to the curb on NZ forums, geekzone, trademe etc for as they state, promoting my business.

I do not want to do this here...get kicked!
I'm sure my signature does no promoting.. do I have to not mention my business also?.. even if they are looking for a solution I can offer.

Honest question. :icon_eek:

You know, I had to look up 'Solicitation" as it sounded like some sex worker on the side of the road..and that's not me...

If this is directed at me, I'm glad I got away with over 500 posts before being hit up by someone who piss's more people off here than anyone else. :icon_eek:

Re: Need multi SSID Access Point with long range

No. And I would offer that it would not be good to do so. Even asking that question "on forum" rather than asking a forum admin in a PM was likely a bit ill conceived.
Chris' company and shield product is in an entirely different league / category. Additionally, he is a direct business partner of Ubiquiti and offers a product that actually generates more sales for the company. His excellent product did so before that forum thread was created.
If you have been previously "kicked to the curb" for marketing on forums, then there is a lesson to be learned (rather than having a repeat here).
I hope this both clarifies my statement (intended in jest ... and obviously missed that mark) and encourages you to take a more subtle approach.
Cheers,
Gene
Edit Added: I am simply a forum volunteer and user of UBNT products. My opinion holds no special value or weight with anyone but myself.

Hey, thanks. I tried to condense it by doing a search on "BeansTalk" and using the resulting URL as my signature, but that URL doesn't seem to work the next day.

If you're 'all about' helping people, why
not offer your various drawings and
other content to the Ubiquiti WIKI?

That's the difference between you and
'Bean Planter': he posts his help here. Dave

Maybe I will in future, but at present I am only learning also so did not think of myself as worthy as people like yourself.

I will make sure I do not over abuse listing my business in my postings in future.

Re: Need multi SSID Access Point with long range

Quit the false praise, please. Why would
you offer your drawings and content to
all comers if you're not sure of their value?

If you are confident of their value, then why
not offer it to the Ubiquiti WIKI as others do?

If you are 'only learning', then perhaps
you will drop the prominent Web links
on your signature. A student doesn't
need to advertise his learning experience. Dave
