AirView9-EXT vs Airview 9

Obviously the difference is the antenna right? LOL but what scenarios would i need it? Thanks guys

You are trying to find out what interference is being seen by an AP, maybe CB, and maybe users.
If the AP or AP's you are interested in are located say 30 feet in the air and have maybe a 15 db antenna. It is hard to get your mind around what you are seeing on the ground with a say 5dbi or 2dbi antenna and how the relates to what the AP is seeing.
I vote for an external antenna.
You can also do some direction finding on a signal you are seeing on the spectrum analyzer (wifi or non wifi).
