EdgeRouter SSH keys save after reboot/upgrade

Submitted by -
Status: New Idea

I remotely backup numerous EdgeRouter's via SSH.  i use ssh-copy-id so that I can ssh and scp to the EdgeRouter without a password so that scripted backups will work without interaction.

When the EdgeRouter is rebooted, the SSH keys are lost. I have to catch it in my backup log that it failed, and then re-do the ssh-copy-id to the EdgeRouter to get it working again.

Can you PLEASE make known SSH keys, etc save across reboots / firmware upgrades?

SSH keys can already be saved persistently as part of the configuration.  How you checked under this from a configure prompt:

user@er# set system login user <user> authentication public-keys ...

You wouldn't use ssh-copy-id as that would not update the edgeos configuration.  Instead you would use the edgeos configuration either via CLI or BUI to set the public key for each user on the ER.
