Frontend for custom DNS entries

Submitted by -
Status: New Idea

The EdgeRouter X provides me a frontend interface for configuring a DNS and enabeling it on certain interfaces. But static entries for local DNS names are only configurable with the Config Tree under "options" with values like:

address=/server2.int/192.168.0.4

 A comfortable interface to add static entries would be nice to have.

A GUI for other common Dnsmasq options like CNAME would also be nice.

Hi @sncp,

EdgeOS also supports configuring hostnames with the static-host-mapping command:

set system static-host-mapping host-name <fqdn> inet <ip-address>
set system static-host-mapping host-name <fqdn> alias <shortname>

Would this work out for you?

Hallo @UBNT-benpin,

Thanks for your comment. The thing is I don't miss the funktionalltiy but an easy-to-use UI for it in the web frontend of my EdgeRouter.

Hi Falk,

I see. I should have mentioned that the host mappings can also be configured from the Wizards tab in the Web UI:

Wizards > Feature Wizards > DNS host names
