Status: Accepted

Hi,

can you please add SFP+ support to your ever growing list of wanted features? This to support 10Gbps.

Thanks,

RS

This is definitely useful! I promise a *minimum* of 2 SFP+ Slots on each EdgeRouter PRO.. Currently we have to reside in other solutions like this.. http://cloudcorerouter.com/CCR1036-8G-2S+EM.php An ideal configuration would include 4 SFP+ slots and would make the EdgeRouter Pro a viable solution for campuses, etc. that have a multi-homed uplink exceeding 10 and even 20 Gb/s

I would suggest a minimum of 4 SFP+ slots. This allows for redundant providers.

@esseph I also want 4xSFP+ but this will probably drive the cost up. Maybe a good idea would be for Ubiquiti to create a(n) (Q)SFP(+)-only router and maybe have 2-4 RJ45's for some... Edge cases.. ;-)

@DaKnOb SFP+ is dirt cheap now. Even QSFP is coming down in price.

@esseph Well, the SFP+ and the QSFP modules are cheap relative to their bandwidth but routing 20-40-80 Gb/s is what takes too much and is expensive in terms of hardware. Especially configuring a firewall with a few rules, running one or two BGP full routes and even enabling the EdgeMAX Deep Packet Inspection thing.

@esseph I'm aware of other solutions and I'm also using some. I just need Ubiquiti to have them since they're doing a great job with the rest.. ;-)

I really need an EdgeRouter PRO+ with 10 Gbps interfaces (more than 1).

We have started on FTTx projects and can do the routing at the moment in the switch. But within short time we need a router to do it....

Could be nice if UBNT could solve the BGP single threaded challenge that MikroTik is struggling with on their 10 Gbps capable router...
