Edgerouter POE Spawinging dhcpv6-pd-response.pl 100% CPU

I am setting up an Edgerouter POE v1.9.1.1 on Google fiber.  It connects fine and my access to the internet works but many dhcpv6-pd-response.pl processes are being spawned by a response from Google. This is maxing our my CPU. I have reviewed this thread:

https://community.ubnt.com/t5/EdgeMAX/Multiple-dhcpv6-pd-response-pl-processes/td-p/1107003

I've attempted both solutions posted there.  Both commenting a line in /opt/vyatta/sbin/dhcpv6-pd-client.pl and running:

Configure
set interfaces ethernet eth0 dhcpv6-pd prefix-only

 Neither worked for me.

I am using the config from here:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/stevejenkins/UBNT-EdgeRouter-Example-Configs/master/Google-Fiber/c...

https://www.stevejenkins.com/blog/2015/11/replace-your-google-fiber-network-box-with-a-ubiquiti-edge...

Here is my /etc/radvd.conf:

interface eth1 {
# This section was automatically generated by the Vyatta
# configuration sub-system. Do not edit it.
#
#   service type [slaac]
#
    IgnoreIfMissing on;
    AdvSendAdvert on;
    AdvManagedFlag off;
    AdvOtherConfigFlag off;
    prefix ::/64 {
          AdvOnLink on;
          AdvAutonomous on;
    };
};
interface switch0 {
# This section was automatically generated by the Vyatta
# configuration sub-system. Do not edit it.
#
#   service type [slaac]
#
    IgnoreIfMissing on;
    AdvSendAdvert on;
    AdvManagedFlag off;
    AdvOtherConfigFlag off;
    prefix ::/64 {
          AdvOnLink on;
          AdvAutonomous on;
    };
};
interface switch0.102 {
# This section was automatically generated by the Vyatta
# configuration sub-system. Do not edit it.
#
#   service type [slaac]
#
    IgnoreIfMissing on;
    AdvSendAdvert on;

    AdvOtherConfigFlag off;
    prefix ::/64 {
          AdvOnLink on;
          AdvAutonomous on;
    };
};

Any help would be really appreciated!

Re: Edgerouter POE Spawinging dhcpv6-pd-response.pl 100% CPU

Here's the TLDR:

I have the same symptoms as this thread and have tried both approaches to the solution with no avail:

https://community.ubnt.com/t5/EdgeMAX/100-CPU/td-p/1508660

I am using firmware 1.9.1.1 on an edgerouter poe connecting to google fiber successfully following this guide:

https://www.stevejenkins.com/blog/2015/11/replace-your-google-fiber-network-box-with-a-ubiquiti-edge...

Has anyone experienced their router's CPU maxing out and found a dfferent solution?

Re: Edgerouter POE Spawinging dhcpv6-pd-response.pl 100% CPU

I ended up plugging the edgerouter back in and left it running for a few days.  It appears that google fiber assigned me an ipv6 ip and this issue resolved itself.  done

Hey keelanmj,
can you tell me how long it took for you to receive an ipv6 ip? I just got my setup going and I am having the same problems.

Re: Edgerouter POE Spawinging dhcpv6-pd-response.pl 100% CPU

Apollostern,

I am not exactly sure. I let it do its thing while I went out of town for the weekend and didn't set any logging up. It took anywhere between a few hours up to 2 days. When I first attempted this, it still served the internet. I just didn't want to add load to the box while it was maxing out CPU so I just used the G F network box for a few days. Now that I know the edgerouter resolved itself quickly, I wouldn't hesitate using it while these processes were running.

Re: Edgerouter POE Spawinging dhcpv6-pd-response.pl 100% CPU

Thanks for your reply.
By any chance, do you use the GF TV service? I am only asking since I added a switch so I can use the GF box and Edgerouter POE at the same time. When I watch live TV, the signal drops and I need to change the channel and then it works again for about 5 minutes.

Re: Edgerouter POE Spawinging dhcpv6-pd-response.pl 100% CPU

[ Edited ]

Apollostern,

I have been using an EdgeRouter Lite on a google fiber set up for a couple months with the TV.

I also have a switch between the FiberJack and the ERL - mine is a TP-Link TL-SG105.

Somewhere I read that the TP-Link was better as passing the VLAN and QoS tags to the ERL from the FiberJack.

Right before I switched to this set up, I was getting some pixelization on the TV side.

Since I have added the switch, the TV has been better and, of course, the 'net part (especially WiFi) is much better going through the ERL.

I have turned OFF the wifi toggle in the GoogleFiber Network Box. Maybe check that in your situation.

PS - I do also use a Netgear GS105 AFTER the ERL so that I can split out the LAN to 3 different routers for different parts of the house.
