Can't connect to my new EdgeRouter

I just got my EdgeRouter Light and wanted to put the SOHO config onto it, so I connected it to my computer (eth0) I set my computers IP to 192.168.1.100, and tried to connect to https://192.168.1.1. The browser says the website does not respond. I tried a reset but that did not help. I created a video where you can see what I am doing. http://screencast.com/t/xv8Q9gPotPwY Best Regards Matthias

Unfortunately, I don't have a console cable at hand. I guess I am going to send it back and get a new one.

Can you ping 192.168.1.1?

Another common mistake is to make sure you're plugged into eth0.  The first rj45 connector is the console not eth0.

Are you sure that your default gateway on your windows should be 192.168.1.2? I suggest that you try 192.168.1.1

I cannot ping 192.168.1.1. (I get timeout and target host not found messages). yes I'm using eth0. changing the default gateway to 192.168.1.1 did not help.
I tried with 3 windows machines. All of them cannot access the router... The windows tray icon says it has no network access.

If you have console cable, take a look at the ERL through console port?

Did you reset the router to its factory defaults? Quoting the user guide:

 

To reset to factory defaults, disconnect the Power Adapter from the Powerport. Press and hold the  Reset button while connecting the Power Adapter to the Powerport. Keep holding the button until the right LED on port 2 starts flashing and then stops after a few seconds
