Cidr IPs from ISP but cannot be connected to Internet.

[ Edited ]

Hi.

A month ago I have got a lot of help from here regarding Cidr IPs configuration.

At the time, I understood a man's guide how to setup Cidr IP on the router. After that time I couldn't apply setup to the router due to my personal other works.

Today I tried to follow instruciton of setting up router with Cidr IPs. Finally my Servers don't have internet connection.

I need your help and advises.

I ordered 16 static IPs from Cox and Cox provides me like below

(My 12 gaming Servers, each Server needs public IP without firewall)

# Wan side IP from Cox

1. IP 7x.1xx.1xx.1xx

2. Netmask 255.255.255.224

3. Gateway 7x.1xx.1xx.1xx

4. Dns1 68.105.28.16, Dns2 68.105.29.16

# Lan side IPs from Cox are

1. Network ID / 7x.1xx.14x.3x/28

2. Netmask / 255.255.255.240

3. Gateway / 7x.1xx.1xx.3x

4. First useable / 7x.1xx.1xx.3x / I believe it is for my 1st server

5. Last useable / 7x.1xx.1xx.4x

6. Broadcast / 7x.1xx.1xx.4x

Below is what I did for EdgeMax.

1. I put Wan IP info to the Eth1. So I converted to Cidr format the Wan IP like this // 7x.1xx.1xx.1xx/27

2. I am not sure I correctly convert to the Cidr format.

3. I put Lan IP info the the Eth0. 7x.1xx.1xx.3x/28

4. Each Server has one public IP start from  7x.1xx.1xx.3x.

5. At the System, I didn't put anythings on Gateway section.

6. At the System, I put 6x.1xx.2x.1x/ 68.105.29.16 as system name server.

7. For other section, I didn't put anything yet.

Now Servers don't any internet connnection.

Do I have to configure something more on other menu section?

Thank you for your time for reading this.

 Thank you.

Try:

configure
set protocols static route 0.0.0.0/0 next-hop 70.182.189.193
commit
save
exit

Re: Cidr IPs from ISP but cannot be connected to Internet.

CIDR is simply a way to notate IP blocks. There is no such thing as a "CIDR IP"

Your problem is simply setting up your interfaces and routing. I have not had to deal with bringing public IP in like this as I only use the ERL for private networks.

Hopefully one of the WISPS will see your thread and help you out. Full IP routing (No NAT) is their business.

Do you have a default route 0.0.0.0? Would be better to post your config.

Hi. UBNT

Thank you for answering.

I have applied your settings.

After that I found one of my Server (ip=7x.1xx.1xs.3x) has internet connection but still show up Wan IP as a public IP. I believe pubic IP should be showed up " 7x.1xx.1xx.3x".

Do I need to add some more setting for the solution?

Also I have converted Wan IP to Cidr foramt to 7x.1xx.1xx.1xx/27 to input the Router. Do you think is it correct?

Hi. Xand.

After I read your message, I go to NAT and uncheck as the picture attahced here.

And I found Server Ip / 7x.1xx.1xx.3x is showed as public website like speedtest.net.

It is awesome !!

I didn't apply all of IPs to the Server so I am not sure every Servers will work or not.

I will put my feedback here again.

Thank you very much.

Do you think it is all done for the basic Cidr Block Setting?

Re: Cidr IPs from ISP but cannot be connected to Internet.

That config generally looks right.

You will now want to implment a basic firewall rule for eth1 so people cannot access your router itself from the internet.

After that, I would personally start adding rules to the firewall that only allows the ports the various game servers need to pass.
