DHCP option 60 and VLAN 10

Hello everybody.

I need to have the EdgeRouter LITE send DHCP Option 60 with following value: 100008,0001

Also, my ISP requires to use VLAN 10 for data.

What I did on the EdgeRouter was following:

created VLAN 10 on eth1 (thus getting eth1.10) and set this interface as DHCP client;

configured this

root@ubnt:/home/ubnt# cat /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf
interface "eth1.10" {send vendor-class-identifier "100008,0001,Ubiquiti,dhclient3 3.0";

After issuing "dhclient -cf /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf eth1.10" I don't get any IP on this interface.

The EdgeRouter is connected to a ZyXEL FMG3025 configured in Bridge mode and with VLAN 10 on both sides (internal and external), see attachment.

What is wrong, or where is the issue why this is not working?

Kind regards,

Re: DHCP option 60 and VLAN 10

Capture on eth1.10, then re-run dhclient, check what's captured.

Re: DHCP option 60 and VLAN 10

Could you clarify what you mean by "set this interface as DHCP client", do you mean you are using the router configuration (GUI or CLI) to configure eth.10 to use DHCP? Since you are also manually creating a dhclient.conf and invoking dhclient, it's probably better to not use the GUI/CLI configuration and just do the manual steps.

Not sure if it's useful but here's what the client config looks like when it's configured through the configuration:

interface "eth0" {
        send host-name "ubnt";
        request subnet-mask, broadcast-address, routers, domain-name-servers, domain-name, interface-mtu;

I'm successfully using:

root@ubnt:/home/ubnt# cat /etc/dhcp3/dhclient.conf
interface "eth1.10" {send vendor-class-identifier "100008,0001";
