Edge Max ER-4 does not show my connected wifi AP

I have an ER-4. When I first set it up, I used a LAN subaddress of 192.168.2.x

I now want to change it to 192.168.1.x.

My first step was to release the static IP address on wifi AP. It had been 192.168.2.4, assigned by the ER-4. (I did this so I could easily find and access the AP's internal menu.) Fine: I went to ER-4, Services/Actions/Details/Static IP and deleted the static address.

Now, after a reboot of the router and a day later, there is no trace of my wifi AP on my router. No matching MAC address is listed...yet, it is working.

What is going on???

No. It is working and has worked. I just released the static IP address on the router. I did nothing to the AP.

Re: Edge Max ER-4 does not show my connected wifi AP

Using the GUI, Static MAC/IP Mapping shows no mapping...as desired.

Leases shows a list of 25 listed MAC addresses and their various IP addresses. The AP MAC address is NOT among the 25 listed as leased.

Re: Edge Max ER-4 does not show my connected wifi AP

Of course it work, as long as no special features are enabled (such as captive portal, or dynamic vlan assignment), it acts as a simple L2 devices. If you want find (and manage) the AP, once you changed the network address, and, of course, created a new dhcp-scope, reboot the AP,  it should get the new ip address (if you wish, you can create a new static-mapping).

Cheers,

Re: Edge Max ER-4 does not show my connected wifi AP

Thanks, but...

Where is it? Why is it invisible to the ER4?

I should be able to see ALL dhcp leased addresses on this LAN: I do not. It is connected to the ER4, but invisible. That's not right.

Re: Edge Max ER-4 does not show my connected wifi AP

Do you know its ip address ? If yes, assuming the known address is 192.168.10.10, issue

sudo arp 192.168.10.10

What's the output ?

Using the released static ip address, 192.168.2.4, sudo arp came back with "ether" and the correct MAC address.

FlagsMask has a "C".

Re: Edge Max ER-4 does not show my connected wifi AP

Just to be sure, for the AP isn't declared any static mapping, and you rebooted the AP ?

The AP is NOT mapped to a static address.

I have NOT rebooted the AP.

edited to add: I've just rebooted the AP and the ER4 still ignores it: the ER4 does not show it on the DHCP leased list.

Re: Edge Max ER-4 does not show my connected wifi AP

If the edgerouter is on 1.10.8 fw, issue

sudo service dhcpd restart

Then, reboot the AP, and check if is shown ...
