Edgerouter 4 supported GPON sfp

[ Edited ]

Hello all,

I just wanted to share with you a GPON SFP i got working on my EdgeRouter 4 with my ftth internet connection.

The sfp information:

$ show interfaces ethernet eth3 sfp
connector=SC
vendor=HUAWEI
oui=00-00-00
part=HPSP2120
rev=
serial=0605656TD3500329
date=14012116

This sfp is at least supported on the Dutch(reggefiber) GPON network.

I bought the sfp via Ebay for about 18USD.

Re: Edgerouter 4 supported GPON sfp

I have my connection @ xs4all, via the Reggefiber fiber network.

when you use a sfp on the edgerouter, staticly configure the speed and duplex. else the connection will not come up.

Also look what the requirements are of tweak fiber. with xs4all PPPoE configuration is needed. Also configure vlans on the spf interface.

If you also gona have IPTV, there are some guides what you need to configure on the edgerouter.

I have the IPTV part working on my ER-4.

Please be aware you may need IGMP snooping if you have your IPTV decoder connectio to a switch, else the requested iptv stream is send to all connected switch ports of you network.

If you have any questions feel free to send me a private message if you want.

on my ER-4 SFP-port is set as LAN interface to netgear GS110TP. I`m using Finisar 4G FTLF8524P2BNV SFP connectors:

xxx@ubnt:~$ show interfaces ethernet eth3 sfp
connector=LC
vendor=FINISAR CORP.
oui=00-90-65
part=FTLF8524P2BNV
rev=A
serial=PHM4FSD
date=100520
temp=52.011 C
voltage=3.27 V
current=6.42 mA
tx_power=0.32 mW
rx_power=0.35 mW
tx_fault=no
rx_los=no

Hey p-de-geus.

I think this is a really intresting topic. Thanks for your sharing.

Which GPON SFP module are you using exactly? I see two different kind of labels?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Huawei-HPSP2120-Tx1-25G-Rx2-5G-20KM-SM-C-Tx1310nm-Rx1490nm-for-GPON-ONU/331...

Do you have a Class B+ version?

Do you have the possiblity to change the GPON serial number of the module?

Now I am using a Nano G, but I don't get IPTV working, because it looks like the Nano G is doing something strange with multicast/igmp packets. See also:

Hopefully it will work with your setup.

Re: Edgerouter 4 supported GPON sfp

I bought the sfp of the 2nd link.

I didn't need to do anything with the sfp to make it work.

Just the correct configuration.

I'm happy that I didn't bought the nano G, I was considering that before I found the sfp.

I hope it works for your setup!
