[Feature Request] PoE Reboot

Hi,

Would it be possible to have a PoE Reboot function on the interface PoE context menu?

All it would need to do is turn current PoE voltage off, wait X seconds then turn it back on again. This would need to be done on the device itself, rather than client side script.

Would help when you need to power cycle a device that you are connected through.

i.e.I needed to recycle a switch that was powered by PoE, but I was connected through that switch.

If I did PoE off, I would be disconnected and be unable to turn it back on...

Yes, this is me confessing to powering off the switch I was connected through, locking myself out earlier today... Blush2

Re: [Feature Request] PoE Reboot

I know you want it in the gui, but I did add a command to power-cycle a port.

/usr/sbin/ubnt-ifctl power-cycle eth4 3

The last param is number of seconds between power-down & power-up.

Re: [Feature Request] PoE Reboot

Thanks to Stig's elegant response I tossed together a wizard that power cycles a selected PoE port with a few clicks.

Basically just add this to the /config/wizard/feature folder on your EdgeRouter and it should list all PoE enabled and connected ports.

Simply check the box for each PoE port you'd like to power cycle and hit apply.

Re: [Feature Request] PoE Reboot

Bumping this back up to the top. It's so easy to do in ToughSwitches, the rest of our team keeps looking for how to do it in the EdgeRouter lineup.

It's nice to have the feature wizard created, but that means we have to specifically install it on every device in the network. It seems like a reasonable gui addition that could be coded into the firmware.

Thanks!

Re: [Feature Request] PoE Reboot

@elmorekevin Thanks for bringing this back up. We will look into adding a feature like this by default in a future firmware version.
