No internet on Edgerouter X even with valid ISP IP address

I have gone through the basic setup wizard and have WAN on eth0 with a valid address from the ISP.  I have LAN setup with DHCP and I am able to get an IP on my laptop connected to eth1. I am unable to get out to the internet on either the laptop or the Edgerouter. I can ping the ISP gateway but no further.  I am unable to ping 8.8.8.8 or even the ISP nameservers.

If I plug my laptop directly into the cable modem I get a valid IP from the ISP that is in the same range as what the Edgerouter is getting from the ISP but I am able to ping 8.8.8.8 and get the internet.

Everything seems to be right but when the Edgerouter is hooked up it just can't seem to get past the gateway.

What am I missing here?

Re: No internet on Edgerouter X even with valid ISP IP address

Did you create a switch and add the interfaces you wish to be switched to it?

If not, I believe you have to manually create the routes from the individual interfaces.

Re: No internet on Edgerouter X even with valid ISP IP address

ubnt@ubnt:~$ sudo ping -I eth0 8.8.8.8
PING 8.8.8.8 (8.8.8.8) from 174.72.*.* eth0: 56(84) bytes of data.
^C
--- 8.8.8.8 ping statistics ---
23 packets transmitted, 0 received, 100% packet loss, time 22120ms

I added the * in the IP address as I don't really want to share my public IP.

Re: No internet on Edgerouter X even with valid ISP IP address

I'm guessing here

You probablky have to wait until your session times out, which is most likely attached to your laptops MAC address now.

So the only way you are going to instantly get internet through the router is to clone the MAC address off your laptop..... or just wait until the DHCP lease expires from your ISP or call your ISP to get them to release it now.

Re: No internet on Edgerouter X even with valid ISP IP address

Laptop and Edgerouter get assigned unique IPs from the ISP so I don't think it is MAC checking

[ Edited ]

Your ISP may only allow one seesion at a time and the old one may not have expired yet.

You can get you MAC address from windows command prompt with "ipconfig /all"

Try this and see if it works: http://community.ubnt.com/t5/EdgeMAX/unable-to-set-mac-address-on-Edgerouter-Lite-1-7-latest-firmwar...

Re: No internet on Edgerouter X even with valid ISP IP address

Cloning the MAC of my old router did the trick!  Thanks!!
