UDP broadcasts on port 10001

I see these every 30 seconds not only on local interface, but WAN-facing one. The payload is just 01 00 00 00.

I suspect they are not useful or desirable on the WAN interface. Should I simply drop them on WAN outbound?

slightly modified SOHO Edgemax Example Config

Re: UDP broadcasts on port 10001

Oh I meant the configuration setting "service ubnt-discover disable", which you can change using set/delete etc. For example:

ubnt@ubnt:~$ configure
[edit]
ubnt@ubnt# set service ubnt-discover disable
[edit]
ubnt@ubnt# commit
[edit]
ubnt@ubnt#

Re: UDP broadcasts on port 10001

As mentioned in the other thread, the broadcast is most likely for the UBNT discovery protocol (for discovering other UBNT devices on the subnet). You can try limiting the interfaces it uses with the "service ubnt-discover interface" setting, or disabling it with the "service ubnt-discover disable" setting.

Re: UDP broadcasts on port 10001

I may be out of my depth here.

Using SSH and as root via sudo, the only service command I see is the standard OS one, and it says there is no such service.

Re: UDP broadcasts on port 10001

Thanks! That works well. I hope I remember this when expecting discovery.
