VLANs and Switch0

Is a switch0 configuration required to assign VLANs to ports in an EdgeRouter or is defining a VLAN to a physical interface sufficient?

Re: VLANs and Switch0

If you need the same VLAN on more switchports, read this, otherwise, on routed eth interfaces (when don't belong to the switch0), you can assign the VLAN's you want.

Thanks but what do I do if I don't have a Switch0 interface? The device is an ER-8-XG.

You define a VLAN on an individual port (ethN). switch0 is only relevant on ER's with internal switches like the ERX family. It is not relevant to you at all.
