EP-R6 eth5 missing?

May not be specific to UNMS, but when I upgraded the EP-R6 to 1.10.0 to connect to UNMS, eth5, the SFP port, disappeared from management.

It is still up, but I cannot configure it through the GUI for some reason.

EP-R6.PNGEP-R6 in UNMS

As seen above, the device only goes to eth4 now in the GUI (both local web console and UNMS), while eth5 is up and linked OK as shown in CLI....

ubnt@ubnt:~$ /sbin/ifconfig eth5
eth5 Link encap:Ethernet HWaddr 80:2a:a8:5e:ec:69
inet6 addr: fe80::822a:a8ff:fe5e:ec69/64 Scope:Link
UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST MTU:1500 Metric:1
RX packets:2024 errors:0 dropped:937 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:21 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
RX bytes:277433 (270.9 KiB) TX bytes:1274 (1.2 KiB)

Something known about the EP-R6 I am doing wrong?

Re: EP-R6 eth5 missing?

Just to follow up, this seems to have just been a function of configuring the EP-R6 as a simple L2 switch: one port is always left out, nothing to do with UNMS or configuration corruption.

I've reconfigured as router with eth5 as WAN and eth0-4 as a LAN switch and now I can use/see/manage eth5 in UNMS as well as EP-R6 web console.

This will will work finel, just L3 with cameras in a new network now instead of simple L2. (uplink takes one interface anyway, so it was always going to be a max of 5 devices anyway..)

Re: EP-R6 eth5 missing?

@tiannotti  Hello Tony. We tried to replicate this on our devices but it behaves correctly here. We need to examine your device directly. Can you please connect it to our support UNMS instance? I would send you the generic UNMS key if you are ok with that.

Re: EP-R6 eth5 missing?

Thanks again, hooked up now, and also posting here the eth5 information in Statistics that UNMS gets and displays, although eth5 is not accessible under Interfaces.

Wondering if there is something I am doing wrong with the switch configuration of the EP-R6 that is causing this?

EP-R6_statistics.PNGEP-R6 eth5 statistics show up OK...

Re: EP-R6 eth5 missing?

@tiannotti  Thank you very much for hooking the device up with our UNMS, Tony. I can see it and the problem manifested itself here as well, which is great. I will ask developers to have a look at it.

Re: EP-R6 eth5 missing?

Thank you! Glad to hear the devs have something to work with.

I had also configured eth5 with an IP and tested pinging, that also seems fine, so the device itself seems OK. Still thinking it may have to do with how it is configured, with all ports except eth5 in the switch.... (That IP assignment was done via CLI and not saved, so you can remove it with a reboot if you need to, but I've left the port connected to that network..)

Re: EP-R6 eth5 missing?

@tiannotti  Hello Tony. Thank you very much for connecting your device to our UNMS. We found out the reason why ETH5 is missing. It seems to be some malfunction in the device's configuration. The interface is working fine but the device has corrupted static port configuration and ETH5 is missing there. I will send you a short guide how to detect it.

We suppose that a reset to factory default should fix this, you will of course need to configure it again.

Re: EP-R6 eth5 missing?

Thanks very much for checking! A factory reset and reconfig is fine, as I have backups, and it is a very simple config still in case the backups are also corrupt.

Appreciated!

Re: EP-R6 eth5 missing?

Hey @UBNT-Radek

So I'm facing this problem but I am needing all ports in the switch0.  Not a WAN/LAN setup.  Can you confirm that a factory reset and then reconfigure will bring back eth5?

In this case I configured the router as a full switch EXCEPT I left eth5 out/unused.  Now I'm adding a second EP-R6 to the site and wanted to patch the 2 together using the eth5 on both routers to leave all 5 ethernet ports for radios.  But eth5 is missing from the GUI.  It does show in the port selection under swith0 config, so I trust it will work, just doesn't show up in the GUI or throughput graph.

Re: EP-R6 eth5 missing?

Disregard.  I just went to the CLI and added a desctiption to eth5 and now it show sup properly.

Re: EP-R6 eth5 missing?

@Esteiner are you probing me?

Just edit the port description via the cli and it will then show up in the gui.
