Exclude specific Wi-Fi channels from Auto

I live near an Air Force base in the USA. Every time we have a large scale “exercise” my APs detect radar on 128 (5640MHz) for extended periods of time (several weeks). This happens several times a year.

An an awesome feature would be the ability to exclude channels you know are problematic without having to lock to a single channel. In my case, exclude 128 so auto still works as expected and you can still use DFS.

Never use 'auto' WiFi channels; always select the one you want.

That so-called 'auto' function only scans the channel list once

before selecting a specific channel. It never tries again--no matter

how much the usage profile changes. It's only a gadget.  Dave

I want the benefit of DFS. During these anomalies, DFS moves 5GHz to a new channel then moves back later. This happens several times a day when the interference is present. If I could block 128, DFS would work fine.

That said another cool cool feature would be more frequent frequency testing. The area I’m in is covered with high power Wi-Fi.

DFS has no 'benefit'; it simply disables a channel if it

discovers radar activity. Instead choose a channel that

has no radar activity--most of them will not.

Doesn't it seem on the surface that if this channel is

disrupted for several weeks at a time, it should be avoided?  Dave

I presume you are talking about the "Auto Channel" assignment capability in the maps section, correct? (not the "Auto" channel setting under the radio settings".

I would love to see this as well.  For instance, I would like to limit the auto recommended channels to 1,6, and 11 and exclude certain DFS channels as well.

Again: 'auto' channel is not a very useful feature.   Dave

Dave - I have a feeling you haven't seen the one on the map page.  Because it can be very helpful.

Of course I've seen the 'scan' feature; it's not only on the

map, but also in the info page for each radio.

But this is not 'auto' channel; instead, you should scan and

set the channel manually according to its results.   Dave

So have you actually used it?  Because that's what it does.  It runs a scan and then when you apply the suggestions, they are set manually and can be changed.  The radios don't appear as auto after that.

'depasaeg', I think you've worked this too hard.

Again: that is not an 'auto' channel feature--it is a

manual scan, from which you can manually set

your desired channel. You had asked for an 'auto

feature with channel lockouts.   Dave
