Upgrading existing CK2+ Hard Drive Procedure

Is there yet a written procedure for upgrading the HDD on a CK2+ that is in service?

The last posting that I could find basically indicated that you will lose everything in Protect, including all configurations and adoptions as there is no backup/restore functionality. Is this still the case?

When upgrading the HDD is the Controller/SDN in any way affected? That is, is it wiped out or does it need restoration?

Re: Upgrading existing CK2+ Hard Drive Procedure

You can download backups for Protect (from settings).

First, make sure your firmware is up to date, then go into Settings and generate and download a new backup for Protect. Do the same for SDN.

After you have the backups, you can swap the drive. You will lose all of the footage on the old drive, protect should import the backup from flash automatically, but if that fails you can restore from the backup you downloaded. I don't believe SDN backup import is automatic, but you can import the one you downloaded.

I wrote a post outlining my experience a month or more ago. See if you can find. It is a no brainer upgrading the drive. You don’t lose anything.

I appreciate the challenge of a scavenger hunt. But I didn't find it. Any clues?

And, did it cover a CK2+ running BOTH Protect and SDN Controller?

For UniFi Network, download a configuration backup, and restore it after replacing the drive.

Can the backups on the inserted SD card be used?

Re: Upgrading existing CK2+ Hard Drive Procedure

If you search for the title you posted,  there is no thread with that title.  "Upgrading the Hard Disk in Gen2+ My Experience"

I also searched each and every threads in your profile and I couldn't find it either, even manually.

Can you please post the link here to that thread?

Cheers

Re: Upgrading existing CK2+ Hard Drive Procedure

Thanks.  I got it all figure out.

I had a brand new CK2 so it was easy to push the bottom tab, get the drive tray out, swap the orginal drive with the 5TB, put it back, and the controler did the rest when I power it up first.  Just be careful with the tray tabs as can easily break.

I really loved the migration steps export / import.  So perfectly done
