Chrome support for Ubiquiti Device Discovery Tool

So I just found out Chrome dropped support for apps.

https://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2017/12/google-shuts-down-the-apps-section-of-the-chrome-web-store/

Any news on what the plans are for the Ubiquiti Device Discovery Tool besides using ssh for the set-inform command?

I thought it was an extension not an app?

Re: Chrome support for Ubiquiti Device Discovery Tool

The link I posted is to the stand alone App (Java). In the D/L section you can also find a link to the chrome extension, but ad you said, this will shortly be obsolete.

Thanks, I didn't realize there also was a standalone version of the app.

Re: Chrome support for Ubiquiti Device Discovery Tool

FWIW, from the Ars article:

Update: You can still install Chrome apps by directly linking to a Chrome app, so right now only search and the browsable app section is turned off. All Chrome apps are now confusingly listed as extensions, though, even though they are apps.

I'm updated on Chrome and the app is still present and working. So there's a little time left if you need it in Chrome. I Google'd the discovery tool on a Chrome browser that didn't have it and used that link to the store app. It installed fine per the article's update note.

Re: Chrome support for Ubiquiti Device Discovery Tool

Yeah, it still works, but I believe Chrome will lose the functionality completely in Q1 next year.

But since there's an alternative, it's not the big issue I thought it was.
