I'm reporting back that this indeed was the problem. Turning off automatic speed test reduced my daily usage from 40 GB per day to about 16 GB per day. HUGE difference. What the crap is speedtest doing to eat so much data! FWIW, mine was set to run every 15 minutes. I was trying to diagnose some ongoing connectivity issues with my ISP.

Immediately fixed it for me. I went back and forth with Comcast for weeks before stumbling across this post. I spoke with support and they indicated there is also an issue with reporting that makes finding this traffic very difficult, if not impossible.
