Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

@gator911I think you need to sign up for the Early Access Program, which is done through your Account settings (above right corner)

Good luck!

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

I did just upgrade the controller from 5.6.30 to 5.9.29, waited an hour and then upgraded USG from 4.4.22 to 4.4.29, now my USG reports as disconncted.

What can i do?

Try to rollback USG to 4.4.22. Many have disconnect issue with 4.4.29 including myself. I rolledback to 4.4.22 and it has been running solid for 36+ hours. When I was on 4.4.29 I would got disconnect/heartbeat missed message 3 - 4 times everyday.

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

I am running USG 4.4.29 and only had a single "Missing Heartbeat" but after reboot it has been running for 6 days without issue.

Just updated controller to 5.9.29 yesterday running CK 0.12.0

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

First click on this link to 4.4.22 Firmware
https://community.ubnt.com/t5/UniFi-Updates-Blog/USG-Firmware-v4-4-22-now-available/ba-p/2347927

- then depending on the Model of USG you have right click on the hyperlink under Downloads and 'Copy Link Address'...

Then go into your UniFi controller - click on Devices, select USG, then click on the Config Tab, then click on Manage Device and paste in the hyperlink that you copied from the webpage above into Custom Upgrade. Then click Custom Upgrade...

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

Sorry bit that won’t work as the status of the USG is disconnected.

Do do you have the steps to SSH downgrade as well? Man Happy

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

Downgraded to 4.4.22 via ssh. Forgot from Controller, readopted.

Still saying disconnected.

IPS, IDS and speed check disabled.

Running controller 5.9.29 on CK FW 0.12.0

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

Try rebooting your cloud key, if that doesn't work, try rebooting the usg. If that still doesn't work forget to usg and the from the command line reset the usg and readopt it.

USG - 4.4.34 • USW-24 - 3.9.54.9373 • USW-8-150W - 3.9.54.9373 • UAP-HD 2x - 3.9.54.9373 • UCK - 0.12.1

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

Got Adopting status after rebooting but then it got disconnected status again. I really don’t want to reset the USG as I only have remote access to the site.

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

Craziest thing.

I have been killing myself with this heartbeat missed issue, I do know how to ssh in and reboot the USG, i can take care of most of these issues remotely. But, I found out that even if the controller shows the device in disconnected or heartbeat missed, it somehow manages to send the custom firmware command and initiates the download and downgrade of the device.

This make sense since the USG still shows a connected status thru SSH when i run an INFO command.

Just thought you guys would like to know since its an annoying issue, especially if you are not onsite and/or dont know how to login via ssh and reboot the usg to get it to show connected.

I have downgraded two USG3 back down to 4.4.22 thru the controller from a red "heartbeat missed" status.

They came back online perfectly fine and are back to 4.4.22 as desired.

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

i unplugged the power this morning, it is now connected in the controller and shows that it is running fw 4.4.22. this tells me that the usg was not even updated to 4.4.29, it failed before that.

10 days stable on 4.4.29 - Controller 5.9.29, DPI and IPS on with no speed tests. Came from .22 as .28 caused problems for me.

Only issue I had was I had to re-adopt it after upgrade into the network. Though had to do the same thing for my APs when I moved to 3.9.54. That may be something to do with the controller upgrade and not the USG upgrade.

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

Got the new developer firmware installed, thanks for the help with how to turn on that access.  Things seem pretty stable at this point.  Had some issues with multiple vpn networks, essentially had to delete all vpn entries and rebuild, but working now.  I have been hesitent to turn on IPS/DPI due to all the stability issues and trying to just get the network stable.  I feel comfortable enough now to turn it back on, I will report back.

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

Been running 4.4.29.5124210 on my USG 3P for a bit to cover a crashing situation around the periodic speed test. Has been great, but recently updated my Cloudkey to 0.12. and I have had 3 crashes of the USG 3P in 14 hours.

I keep a console connected to look at the output, what typically happens in the USG dumps:

"Process 9225 (linkcheck) has crashed (parent 1 (init) signal 10, code 128, addr            (nil)), coredumps disabled"

And SSH is no longer possible, the Console is responsive for a little while longer, then it goes unusable.

DHCPd also dies as my AP's will drop off the network after their lease expires. But the LAN connections are still getting through the USG to the internet, so through traffic has been OK.

Anyone else see this with 4.4.29?

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

I had an issue where a client that had long disconnected wireless phone remain stuck listed as a client directly attached to the USG in the Unifi system. The L2TP VPN Service also stopped working which necessiated a restart of the USG. Are these known issues?

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

I upgraded my USG 3P to 4.4.29 last night.  It was on 4.4.12 and had 300 days of uptime with a constant 30% memory and below 10% CPU.  Here is one day on 4.4.12 and one on 4.4.29

USG-CPU-RAM.png

Here is a zoom in on the last day of 4.4.29, It rose up to and is hovering about 23% RAM use.

today cpu ram.png

I do not have IDS or IPS on.  I am doing sheduled speed tests. I don't have any VLANs set up and have a very simple setup with a few switches (one Unifi) and two APs.  Controller v5.8.30, APs on v3.9.54

Crossing fingers, but this seems to be going OK so far.  What should I watch for?

On that topic, will my controler log an alert/event if it looses the internet uplink?  Or is there any way to set the controller to monitor internet connectivity?
