Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

[ Edited ]

Finally it is working  again.

So what worked for me - step by step - hopefully it will help someone else.

1. Download the last Firmware wich worked on your USG (in my case: 4.4.22)

2. Be on the USG-Site, better hook up to the USG, everything else didn't work

3. Log into the machine with SSH

4. Upgrade the FW

5. After the restart you reach the USG @ 192.168.1.1 - no matter what your Site is on...

6. Log in with standard user/psw // ubnt/ubnt or root/ubnt

7. Manually set up the IP...

8. Hook up the USG to the network again

9. Log in to the controller and finally click adopting

Just want to make sure,  that that is the solution which worked for me. I've had internet access on the beginning and than lost it and the Unit was not available anymore...

Tooked me the hole day.

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

I'm running 5.8.30 and USG3P 4.4.29... today I saw the USG3 disconnected and heart beat missing, etc.... rebooting and it's back online... during heart beat missing I was able to ping it and ssh it... weird isnt it? Wise to use this version or go to another version?

I mean the upgrade URL to download directly to the USG.

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

I just upgraded to 4.4.29 when I was home for lunch.  The USG Pro is still routing traffic, but shows as disconnected in the Unifi controller.  I cannot look at it until I'm back home from work as VPN is also broken, but if anyone has any suggestions, I would be grateful.

This is the 2nd USG firmware in a row I've had major problems with.  The previous upgrade failed so badly, I had to factory default and re-adopt.

Support suggested doing a "set-inform".  That would be great if that is the fix, but I'm not holding my breath..

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

Same, I have Controller 5.8.30 and USG Firmware 4.4.29 and still get the same connected messages throughout the day.

The disconnected was during the upgrade to 4.4.29. After that (and before) I just get "UniFi USG was connected" all day. Never disconnected.

Memory is creaping up.  Friday was at 9% after upgrading.  Today it's at 14%.  Prior to upgrade it was at a constant 10-11% for weeks.

It was the same thing on my USG... And the same suggestion from the support team that did non work after all.

Than they suggested a ahard reset ..

I ended up with the steps above and will stick to the FW 4.4.22

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

Upgraded and this caused the USG to mess the bed. Stuck in adopt loop.
Powercycled and it would not grab an WAN IP Address. Powercycled Modem first and then the USG again, still nothing.

Disabled IPS and DPI in controller and then powercycled USG again. Nothing.

Ended up having to factory reset the USG, it grabbed a WAN IP address straight away and then I was able to adopt it to my cloud controller again. Adoption took a little while and it finally came good.

Never really noticed the CPU and Memory usage before but for the last 12hrs has been steady at 40% memory usage and between 10-20% CPU usage. Not sure if this is normal or not for the USG3

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

After trying the "set-inform", which did nothing, I rebooted the USG.  When it came back up, it no longer routed to the Internet.  I ended up having to factory default and re-adopt.

I'm waiting for chat support now to get some answers.  This is two times in a row a USG firmware has completely f'ed up the USG to the point of factory default.

Seems like a regression that hasn't been tested properly...

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

[ Edited ]

same for me. upgraded from controller 5.8.30, USG 4P stucks in provisioning.

system is still online, I can ssh into USG. info shows nothing, set-inform to my controller url and later on I receive

admin@USGPro4:~$ info
admin@USGPro4:~$ set-inform http://192.168.10.198:8080/inform
admin@USGPro4:~$ info
admin@USGPro4:~$ info

Model: UniFi-Gateway-4
Version: 4.4.29.5124212
MAC Address: fc:ec:da:4a:e6:e3
IP Address: 192.168.1.100
Hostname: USGPro4
Uptime: 1583 seconds

Status: Connected (http://192.168.10.198:8080/inform)
admin@USGPro4:~$

But the controller is still not able to provision. I am wondering why the ip of USG is wrong. It should be 192.168.10.1

jet i am also waiting for the support chat...

another reboot of the usg 4p and the controller can connect to the usg. provisioning shows some config conflicts.

what shall I do with it:

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

Upgraded USG firmware from v4.4.28 to v4.4.29 from Cloudkey controller v5.8.30

Upgrade went smoothly and site quickly came back online without any problems. However, a short time later, controller starts reporting USG as disconnected and inactive although site is still operating OK. Statistics still bing reported but now unable to manage USG remotely from controller. This is the first time I have had any problems with any upgrades.

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

Restarting controller seems to have cleared the problem. USG now displaying correctly so far.

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

After having a failed attempt of upgrading 4.4.28 to 4.4.29 the first time I bit the bullet and tried again two days ago. This time it went smoothly, I’m using DPI and so far, so good.

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

Ubiquiti support indicated it was a bug in 4.4.28 related to having periodic speed tests enabled.  I would highly advise anyone that is planning on upgrading to 4.4.29 to turn that feature off.  It was also advised by support to leave this setting off until a fix is released.

I will be combing through the release notes very carefully going forward on the next USG firmware update.

We have the same issue and have been working with support on this for the last couple weeks.   I suspect it is a Controller issue in combination with the Cloud Key.  It appears that when these messages come up the controller had an error in its log.  I'll be sure to post our findings.

Re: [USG] Firmware v4.4.29 now available

I forgot to mention that I have been running speed tests every 30 minutes through 4.4.28/29 without issue.

4.4.28 is the first time I actually enabled it.
