UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable - BUG?

Hey guys,

yesterday i´ve updated my Controller on an Raspberry Pi 2B to 5.10.12 Stable. And nothing works since then. Meanwhile I have reinstalled the Debian and installed unifi again. But: The Controller is offline or whatever. He didn´t run.

Have you had similar experiences out there? I just don´t know how to continue. In the meantime, I have invested about 11 hours.

Greetings.

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable - BUG?

Read the release post for 5.10.12, this is caused by a too old version of Java on raspbian.

See this post for a solution.

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable - BUG?

The command sudo journalctl -u unifi might give you more information about what is going wrong. Or start the controller by hand, and check/share the output.

Whats up here?

The file /etc/apt/sources.list.d/ubnt.list has two lines that are the same; remove one. and do another update. That should solve the configured multiple times error.

The mongodb repository doesn't have armhf packages, so you might as well remove that from your apt sources as well. I'm not sure where you can get armhf versions of mongodb 3.4.

You have everything installed correctly, but unifi can't make a connection to something. So while it may be running, it's not working. Can you try giving me the output of dmesg just after you restart unifi? The last 20-30 lines should be enough, but you can also attach it as a file.

I am running an older version of Java. How do I force a reinstall of unifi? I installed via UnifiPi

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable - BUG?

Once i confirmed i have updated Java:

pi@unifipi:~ $ java -version
java version "1.8.0_201"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_201-b09)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 25.201-b09, mixed mode)

I then made sure the old version isn't referred to.

sudo systemctl stop unifi

** first i went into the directory,

cd /usr/lib/jvm

** move the old java to a temp dir

sudo mv dk-8-oracle-arm32-vfp-hflt/ old_jdk

** then copied the new java into the old directory

sudo cp -rf /usr/java/jdk1.8.0_201/ jdk-8-oracle-arm32-vfp-hflt

** Note, your source directory will be dependant on how you've updated to the latest Java version.

sudo systemctl start unifi

Now it runs.....
