Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

Installed 5.10.12 and have the same "wifi experience" problems except mine show DNS Timeout.

Also cannot get the preferences to keep changes. Enabled  Change theme to Dark, Don't Show What's New, and Enable Refresh Button. I apply changes and everything works until next time they are not remembered.

Really disappointed with Beta testing at Ubiquiti, 2 weeks ago problems with the device updates and now problems with the controller software. Not a very good feeling.

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

I don't know if it is related - but after installing 5.10.12 yesterday my 16 port POE switch (16-150W)- kicked all POE off after about 8 hours post upgrade. It has never happened before. Nobody was near the switch or any of the devices when it happend.

And that switch of course power my cloudkey...

All devices running latest firmware (USG/CC/AC PRO etc) and was updated 5 days ago.

Power consumption roughly 25w on POE.

Switch CPU constant at 60'ish% load. Memory constant at 47%

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

One AC-AP-LR fails to install firmware update on the new controller. Trying to update from 4.0.15.9872 to 4.0.21.9965.

First it disconnects and after some time it reappears with even upgrade failed: download failed (error: curl:7, http:000)

SSH / info notes: Unknown[11] (http://x.y.z.z:8080/inform) for the duration of the disconnect.

Other two AP-AC-LR & switch upgraded fine.

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

I like the Dark theme!

the controller reports the OS name of my Grandstream VoIP phones as being Windows. Tbh I don't know what the OS is based on but I doubt it's Windows!

Thank you, the Java update resolved my issues running on Raspberry Pi.

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

I had the same issues on my RP3. Updating Java fixes the problem, however you will still get the same errors if you run

sudo systemctl status unifi

But the good thing is, despite these errors the unifi controller is up and running again. Thanks!

I tried to manualy to update the java on pi 3 following another guide and it gave me issues.

Used the link above that @sysop-g & @sjobergpo posted all went smoothly first time and 5.10.12 controller on the pi 3 is up and running again.

Thanks sysop-g & sjoberpo for the link Cheers2

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

Might have an answer:

systemctl stop unifi

cd /usr/lib/jvm

mv jdk-8-oracle-arm32-vfp-hflt/ old_jdk

ln -s java-8-oracle jdk-8-oracle-arm32-vfp-hflt

The old Java was still in my jvm directory for some reason.  I moved it and created a symbolic link to java-8-oracle, and it started, same errors, but it did start up.

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

I am in the same boat.  Had to update java version and my controller is back up and running now but I am still seeing the java errors when I run a status on the unifi service.  Is this of concern or will it cause issues down the road?

Solved:

Reason for the failure was typo in network config / gateway address. Gateway was beyond network mask and in totally different subnet. Seems that the controller does not check if the gw and IP are in the given netmask.

Agreed.  The VPN widget needs to be fixed.  It's not a feature when you take something away.

I can handle an oversight in missing it during the major GUI update, but this is now unacceptable.

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

[ Edited ]

I have a small (1 APAC Pro and 1 AP AC Lite) deployment in my house. After upgrade to 5.0.12 both APs are on the same 2.4 and 5 Ghz channels. Both on channel 1 and channel 36. Has anyone else seens this? I did enable the new "automatically optimize network and wifi performance" shortly after upgrade.

I'm going to do an RF Environment scan and see if that helps at all. Just weird that they both setttled on the lowest channel in each band. And I've never seen them both on the same channel before.

Update: After RF scan 2.4 Ghz ended up on different channels, but both are still on the same 5Ghz channel (126 now)

The dark theme looks OK although the slide bar next to the anomalies column on the dashboard looks a bit naff.

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

I have 2 AP AC Pros and after enabling "automatically optimize network and wifi performance" I am seeing a similar thing. Both APs are using the same channels - 1 for 2.4 GHz and 149 for 5 GHz. Is this going to be a problem?

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

Upgrade went fine. Downloaded the 5.10.12 unifi_sh_api and noticed that unifi_unblock_sta is no longer available, yet unifi_block_sta is still there. I use the API to turn on/off kids wifi. Was able to workaround by adding unifi_unblock_sta manually.  Here is the code I added:

# cmd/stamgr
# unblock-sta(mac)
unifi_unblock_sta() {
   if [ $# -lt 1 ] ; then
      echo "Usage: $0 <mac>"
      return
   fi

   mac=$1

   ${curl_cmd} --data "{\"cmd\":\"unblock-sta\", \"mac\":\"${mac}\"}" $baseurl/api/s/$site/cmd/stamgr
}

Hi,

I have problems connecting via ios.app remotely. The controller crashes and restarted automatically everytime I try to connect remotely.

Local everything works fine.

Re: UniFi Network Controller 5.10.12 Stable has been released

Just to let you know my resolution.  I tried installing using the scripts (https://community.ubnt.com/t5/UniFi-Wireless/UniFi-Installation-Scripts-UniFi-Easy-Update-Scripts-Ub...) by AmazedMender16 that ensure that you have the right Java/Mongodb etc and this would not work on Ubuntu 16.04, Ubuntu 18.04 and on Debian 9.  Yes, this is how I spent my Sunday.  Ended up spinning up a server with Ubuntu 16.04 and used the script to install 5.9.29 and it worked without any modifications or hassle.  Wasted 5 hours on a "Stable" release install...

When i try to SSO from unifi.ubnt.com I get Connection Failed. Direct connection works fine. I did add the 8883 ports to my security group based on the release notes, but I didn't think it was a firewall issue in the first place.

If I had to take a guess, I'd say it has something to do with the JNI Library not being loaded, but I'm a little lost as to why?
