Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.6.40 LTS Stable has been released

End of support for 5.6.40 LTS is this month, when can we look forward to the upgrade to 5.7.X LTS or 5.8.X LTS?

5.8 is going away?  I thought that was still the recommended and stable release... at least according to the pined post:

Actually, looks like 5.9 is now the current stable release.

I've asked about a replacement "LTS" after 5.6, but I don't think that they're using "LTS" like we typically think of it. I think they only tagged 5.6 with LTS because of this:

Future releases will either be "testing" or "stable" as far as I can tell.

@UBNT-MikeD

Do we stilll need to follow this upgrade path from 5.6.40 => 5.9.29?

  • 5.9.29<=5.9.26, <=5.8.30, <=5.7.28, <=5.6.40

@krodowa wroteMan Very Happyo we stilll need to follow this upgrade path from 5.6.40 => 5.9.29?

  • 5.9.29<=5.9.26, <=5.8.30, <=5.7.28, <=5.6.40

Nope. You can go direct from 5.6.40>5.9.29.

The idea was to have a quick reference so you knew if you could upgrade or not. So for 5.6, as long as it's 5.6.40 or earlier, it'll work. If there was a release 5.6.41 then you wouldn't be able to upgrade from that to 5.9.29 until an updated version (of 5.9) was released. This is more common in beta releases than public/stable releases, but it may happen here at times.

Hope that helps.

Cheers,

Mike
