Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

I would suspect that if video is combined it will just be like a switch, the video controller will be adopted and report status, available updates, camera status, etc on the single pane of glass, but all the processing will remain on the video controller itself.

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

I've seen a few people making comments about devices not coming back online so I'm drop my two cents for something I've noticed over the last couple updates.

We do a lot of bars and smaller businesses most of them do not have static IP's, or if they do the ISP has it set to dish out DHCP.

I've noticed the USG not pull DNS server information, so when using the FQDN it can't contact the controller.  Switching to the IP address of the controller usually resolves this, and I can set DNS servers under Settings -> Networks -> WAN -> DNS moving forward.  I've used another device on site to SSH into the USG to program a DNS server long enough to pull the config, or update the inform to the IP address.

But that seems to fix any issue with USG's going offline but the rest of the devices staying up after an upgrade.

I've changed to using the IP across the board, I still use the FQDN while setting up a site because thats easier for me to remember but ends up getting switched to the IP after the provision.

Our controller is in the AWS cloud, clients have ISPs from ATT, Cox, and Cable One (These weirdo's dont give out real static addresses at all), I set the DNS on all our USG's to point to Google's DNS.

I did notice after the last update, that all DNS entries were blank under network, I could swear DNS was orginally a setting on the config tab on the USG not under networks but I could be crazy as well.

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

My USG's CPU has gone from a stable 3% to now 30%-45%. I changed nothing - all the stuff like IDS/IPS, Smart Queues, etc, are all off still.

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

[ Edited ]

Still getting use to the new look and feel, and really liking things so far. Only problem I have at the moment is that the VPN widget on the dashboard does not show any information. I have a ´manual VPN´ setup between my USG and an Edgerouter lite at another site.

In previous versions of the controller the VPN showed on the dashboard, but the widget in 5.9.29 says ´no VPN networks were found´. The VPN is up and running because I can access the servers at the remote site, but it would be really helpful to be able to see the VPN status on the Dashboard. Any suggestions as to what may be going on here.

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

where are you guys finding these widgets to install?

i am trying to figure out how to see my site to site vpn status.

when i click add a custom dashboard, it wants me to drag and drop or browse for files.

why was the VPN status removed from the dashboard?

@dbazley If you click Dashboard, Add new Dashboard, give it a name, disregard the upload, and click Create, then you will be prompted with another screen that shows all of the available widgets you can click and drag them to your window.

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

[ Edited ]

+1 on the disconnects - Two of my 6 sites that each have one switch and one AP-Pro are showing "disconnected" all of the devices are on 3.9.54 firmware and were online prior to the SDN upgrade from 5.8.30 on my CK-G2. The devices are all still functioning properly, but controller can't communicate with them (or vice-versa). I can ssh into the devices and ping the controller. I tried a set-inform on one AP with no success. Hopefully @UBNT-MikeD will have some input on this problem?

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

Seems silly, and I hate to even suggest it, but I've had it correct issues with devices showing up as offline after an update before. Have you restarted the device since the controller update?

Once I confirm the devices can talk to the controller, I do a restart that usually brings the device back online, but if that doesn't work I reset the device.  Luckily it doesn't take much effort to readopt them, but still an issue that needs to be addressed because it is common.

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

I did reboot the AP via ssh, but it did not have an effect on the status. Since this is in my production environment, I am hoping not to reset, since I will have to fully reconfigure the switches - the AP's are easy, but my switch configs are a bit more complex, with some ports configured for 24v POE for gen2 cameras as well as multiple vlans, etc... None of which can be done during business hours.

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

Bummer.

Not something I'd test on a production situation, but everytime I've reset a device on the device side (Not a Forget or Reset from the controller side) it picked back up all of its vlans, port configs, naming, and everything once readopted into the controller.  Might be worth a test on a bench if you have one.

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

The Disconnected state / losing inform URL issues are definitely giving me pause.

Normally I upgrade to the latest stable controller version, but am waiting to roll this one out to our main production controller.

All went well on my home network with a local controller. The smaller of our 2 production controllers at work was upgraded but as I reported earlier, several devices stopped checking in. I was able to get them back via SSH set-inform.

That behavior would be a huge issue on the larger controller as some sites have no Unifi switch to SSH from.

Switching from dark to light mode doesn't work in Firefox. Only seems to function properly in Chrome:

Looks like 5.9.29 finally allows us to whitelist/blackliste IPs via IPS!

The only problem is it doesn't work. You can see the error I receive when attempting to whitelist an IP:

Works for me in Chrome (and iPad/Safari) but it’s only on the Settings page, not the rest of the interface.

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

been having heaps of issues since either this or cloudkey version 12 were installed.

The GUI is completely offline and after investigations have found that the MongoDB isn't starting.

Can't restore a backup as the MicroSD card doesn't appear to me working anymore either.

Error in the server log below.

I have tried DB repairs and journal removal and rebuilds, when I try and get to UniFi controller all I get is a screen that says "Unifi Controller is starting up"

I can't run a DB prune as it can't connect to the DB, any ideas?

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

[ Edited ]

Just for reference I have been up and running on 2 networks with the new 5.9.29 (Build: atag_5.9.29_11384) so far so good on both networks (one is a USG pro 4 and the other the non pro one)...

My question is as maybe I missed it in the old controller but what is Association Failures (I am up to on the usg pro 4 network) 116 now.. 7 are WPA authentication timeout/failure... is that one like someone trying to connect up but does not have the password? AND I have DHCP Timeout/Failure 109 events on that.. I do not have the DHCP setup and running on the unifi stuff on the main usg pro 4 network (my other network that uses the smaller unit has 0 assiciation failures but is only used normaly by like maybe 4 or so clients where the other one is much more then that being its in the office and the smaller one is at a home office)...

SO any ideas?

Edit: I do have some VPN clients that use the built in DHCP I think. I connect from windows 10 to it.

Re: UniFi SDN Controller 5.9.29 Stable has been released

Upgrading logs are filled with this entry repeating continuouly.

[2018-10-12 15:35:03,469] <inform_stat-8> ERROR dev - Error in DeviceManager.processStat()

Cloudkey controller also needs to be rebooted every 24 hours as others have noted on the forum. I'd rather not have to yet again reset the key and restore from backup as this is extremely troublesome.
