Description

I finally got around to getting my home network setup and installed. The plan was there from the start when we finished the house in March 2016. It took me a while to do the research and figure our what I wanted and how I was going to install it. this is my first ever network install and build. I don't do this for work...but have a lot of smart friends that do, so I leveraged their insight and knowledge to put together what I have below.

(Update as of 10 Jan 2019)

Purchased 5x UniFi IW HD AP's (UAP-IW-HD) so I have overlapping coverage in the house without any worry of signal drop no matter where we are using our wifi devices. Those will bve installed as soon as they arrive. I also purcahsed the 1U rack mount for the CKG2+...it is needed...not really but it does clean things up and takes the stress off the network cable connection to the switch.

I see Home Run Electronics did your structured cabling. Any chance this is a Brookfield or David Weekly home? The basement insulation looks very similar to mine, HRE did my cabling as well, I'm in the Midtown development

@esloyerwe are in a classic home. Not super happy with the wiring job that HRE did. For some reason they also ran coax to all my camera positions which I'm having to cut off at the wall prior to mounting the cameras.

Looks great. What is the Vertiv device for?

@rjfowlerlooks like a UPS to me for battery backup

@rjfowlerthe Vertiv is a UPS for the network. Although we don’t have many (if any) power fluxing here in Colorado Springs...I wanted to make sure there were not any issues with clean power being supplied at all times. On its current load I have about 70 minutes of run time before the system will power down.

Final IW-HD APs arrived after seeing that UBNT released 20 of them to the store on the 5th. Managed to snag up what I needed and have them successfully installed, adopted and all firmware updated.
