Description

Hi Friends!

At WiFi Solutions® we provide indoor WiFi service mainly to hospitality customers in Málaga, south Spain.

This time we were asked by to install WiFi a refubrished Hotel in Torremolinos, Málaga, Spain.

Let´s start with the story:

This Hotel already had 2.4GHz UniFi installed by other company. WiFi service was not working well since last year. Lack of bandwidth (10Mbps for the whole hotel), lack of access points, too many end devices to handle across the network, 2.4GHz band saturated, too many wireless uplinks made the WiFi service struggle.

The sum of these factors ended with daily complaints at the front desk.

Once the Hotel closed in December, they were suggested to:

- Do a proper WiFi planning, run new CAT6 cables to each AP, upgrade to UniFi AC + upgrade from ADSL to Fiber.

Get two different ISP, for load balancing / failover.

Other options / vendors came across:

- Movistar´s ISP option: Upgrade to fiber + Install Cisco or Ruckus Wireless. Mad5

- Some local ISP suggested 78 Routers with 4G limited to 1GB per day. That means, 78 different SSID, one per room.

.

After comparing other options, the owner decided to fix everything in February and continue with UniFi. Ubnt Banana

Hardware used:

- 22 UAP AC PRO.

- 1 UniFi AC-M.

- 1 EdgeRouter.

- 1 UniFi 16 150W Switch.

- 915 meters of UniFi CAT 6 cable.

- 1 Cloud Key.

- Routing & Firewall: failover with the two WAN services. Three VLANs:

  1. Staff VLAN10 - WAN1 (QoS rules applied).
  2. Clients VLAN20 - Routed through  WAN 2 Social HotSpot - third-party - (QoS rules applied).
  3. IoT / Smart TVs - VLAN30.WAN1 (QoS rules applied).

After 3 months of use, some data of mid August: no more WiFi complaints! 510 devices and 0 WiFi service complaints!

Connecting Everyone, Everywhere!

And this is what happens when our customers love Ubiquiti just as much as we do!

000D.JPG

As you see the UniFi - well installed and configured - is the perfect solution for Hospitality.

Our client is extremely satisfied with the general performance improvement, the way of managing all the equipment from a single cloud interface and the final price comparing the other options.

If we had chance, we would have installed the UniFi AC-IW per room, but there was no communication between the main rack to the rooms.

Hope you enjoy our story!

Good Work! One question, please. Your WiFi Hotspot Social solution is developed on Ubiquiti software or other platform (Ex: Mikrotik)? Thank you!

Another great install Vijay!

How many rooms was this property, to give an idea of room to AP ratio?

What sort of signal reading do the rooms get on the 5GHz with a corridor solution?

Many thanks!

Thank you wifisolutionsES for sharing this very nice project!!!!

We are planning a project to one of our customers (a hospital 8 floor building) where the administration wants to provide WiFi service to their patients inside the rooms and accross the facility where their customers move and wait.

Mostly we are planning same infrastructure as you did at Essence Hotel Boutique and want to know your feedback after placing your AP's accross the floors hallways, how is the signal inside every room? and would like to know, what is the AP ratio by rooms.

How are the rooms wall constructed? Are they concrete walls or sheet rocks walls?

Thank you very much by sharing your feedback.

Again, very nice job!!!!!

Were the APs located all in the hallway?, I presume it all had to be wired back to the switch
