AP-AC-Lites rollback their firmware by themselves?

I have 2 AP-AC-Lite access points on a small network with an edge router.
I hadn't been there in a long time since I set it up in 2016. Was there now to paper clip reset the access points and get them on my AWS instance of the controller.
I was going to upgrade the firmware, and people have said to do that in steps. But eitehr on my own or system automatcailly did the upgrade.
Then they 'upgrade' back to their original firmware. Ever see that before? It did that because it was unstable with the new OS?
Maybe if I upgraded them in steps, the new firmware would 'take'?

Hello @AntarServices,
Does this only showup in the events list or did it really downgrade?
Regards,
Glenn R.

the list of devices now show the 3.4 version on both and connected (needs upgrade). I know this AM that I did initiate the upgrade FROM 3.x. That fits with the list of alerts
The users said there was a problem connecting (I was fiddling with my AWS controller - see the other posts about THAT : ( and I thought it was something I did. Logging into the controller around 12:30PM, I am 99.9% sure it showed them at 4.x and they showed as disconnected. No other sites were down.. these 2 access points showed disconnected.
1/2 hour later, the controller device list showed them as back to 3.4 and connected. those fit with the time stamps of the alerts - it tried (and succeeded?) to get to 4.x this AM and then something rolled them back to 3.4, which is what they were at before (rather than roll back to some firmware in between 3.4 and 4.0)

Hello @AntarServices,
There is no way the UAPs downgrade itself to such an old version unless you have an old controller running with automatic updates enabled.

Glenn R.

Hello @AntarServices,
Upgrade them again and see if they downgrade again, basically try to replicate it.
Never seen this happening before..

Glenn R.

This is very interesting. Can you please provide me with a support file from the controller? Do NOT post that here in the community, please send it to me via PM (or I can provide you with my email). Depending on its size it may need to be hosted somewhere.
Can you also provide a recursive listing of the contents of /path/to/unifi/data/? Please replace /path/to with the actual path.
Can you check Settings>Maintenance>Firmware and see what cached firmware is present for the AC-Lite model?
Cheers,
Mike
