Can't adopt via Cloud Access - Controllers do not show in Adopt dialog box

Controller 5.2.9, using SuperAdmin account.

 

I can connect via the Cloud Access Portal and can launch my controller (status of controller is Online & I can see all our customer's sites) 

I can also see devices pending adoption. However, when I click on Adopt, the controller isn't shown in the dialog box:

It's grayed out/unselectable.

 

Same thing when using the pending device property page:

I've also tried manually setting the device's Inform URL (under Configure) to the correct URL for my controller:

http://[controllerIP]:8080/inform

 

However, I can find and adopt devices with no issues using either the iOS or Android apps. So, I'm pretty sure firewall/port forwarding is configured correctly. Also test.webrtc.org shows no WebRTC connectivity issues.

 

Anybody have any idea why?

Hello @erikbrekke,

 

Is something on your ISP modem/firewall blocking port 8080/tcp?

set-inform to the controller and adopt it in the controller, not in the cloud access portal.

set-inform http://ip.of.the.controller:8080/inform

Also what does the INFO command show?

info

Thanks for the quick reply! Port 8080 is open and forwarded to the internal IP of the controller.

 

How do I "set-inform to the controller"? Also, "adopt it in the controller" - can a remote controller adopt it without being on the same local network?

 

Please note, we've been following the method shown at https://help.ubnt.com/hc/en-us/articles/204909754-UniFi-Device-Adoption-Methods-for-Remote-UniFi-Con... and have not had any previous issues. This issue of being unable to select the controller from the Adopt window is new.

You have to execute the commands from my previous post in a SSH session, default credentials at ubnt/ubnt.

 

Yes you can L3 adopt devices.

OK, so I've SSH'ed into the device, issued set-inform http://x.x.x.x:8080/inform, tried to adopt into the controller. Controller attempts to adopt, then changes state to Disconnected.

 

Factory restored device, SSH set-inform as above, same result.

 

Results of set-inform and info:

 

 

Adoption request sent to 'http://x.x.x.x:8080/inform'.

1. please adopt it on the controller
2. issue the set-inform command again
3. <inform_url> will be saved after device is successfully managed

Hello @erikbrekke,

 

Make sure the UAP can ping/resolve the controller

 

Run the set-inform command a few times.

You can also upgrade the UAP and try again.

3.9.54

upgrade http://dl.ubnt.com/unifi/firmware/U7PG2/3.9.54.9373/BZ.qca956x.v3.9.54.9373.180914.0009.bin

Once it upgraded to 3.9.54 upgrade to 4.0.14

upgrade https://dl.ubnt.com/unifi/firmware/U7PG2/4.0.14.9736/BZ.qca956x.v4.0.14.9736.181224.1723.bin

Only use the commands above for the following UAPs: UAP-AC-Lite/LR/Pro/EDU/M/M-PRO/IW/IW-Pro

 

Once it upgraded try to adopt it again ( run the set-inform a few times )
