Jeff, JPT and I are coworkers, so I'm chipping in here. =)

We do have Multicast block enabled. We've tested it both ways with no change to the apple product's failure to obtain a dhcp-assigned address. It's really odd, all the failed devices are apple, we have no issues with android or any other devices except an HP laptop or two.

After dealing with this for months we finally just rolled back to v3.9.54.9373 on all the AP's and the list of 30-40 devices with a 169.x IP dropped to a couple and the reporting from the site is the issues have gone away.

We will be glad to have setup a remote support session if needed for troubleshooting this. We manage a lot of Unifi client sites and we are on a firmware freeze until this gets resolved.

So, after some extended troubleshooting today, looks like in our case the issue was vlan tagging-related. We have an old Dell switch still at that location and it had been configured with VLAN tagging on the ports, but somehow had lost the configuration a month or two ago. A couple of the AP's on injectors are still attched to that switch, so we were getting the intermittent IP issues.

Just wanted everyone to know that at least in our case, it was a perfect storm of vlan issues and a couple of older AP's in high-traffic areas not passing DHCP requests due to not knowing what to do with the traffic.

Same here, but admittedly I don't know if it was like that before the update. I did not really pay attention to that before.

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.10.9653 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

SNMP seems a bit broken on UAP-Pro. It's OK on 3.9.54:

fonio-BZ.v3.9.54# ps -w | grep snmp
1347 admin 9492 S /usr/sbin/snmpd -C -c /etc/snmp.conf -f -LS 0-4 d -Lf /dev/null -p /var/run/snmpd.pid
15985 admin 1640 S grep snmp
fonio-BZ.v3.9.54# netstat -ln | grep -E "tcp|udp"
tcp 0 0 0.0.0.0:161 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
tcp 0 0 192.168.1.26:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
netstat: no kernel support for AF INET6 (tcp)
udp 0 400 0.0.0.0:48000 0.0.0.0:*
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:10001 0.0.0.0:*
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:161 0.0.0.0:*
udp 0 336 0.0.0.0:44212 0.0.0.0:*
udp 0 1792 0.0.0.0:36161 0.0.0.0:*

But, afer upgrading to 4.0.10, the UAP-Pro is no longer listening on port 161:

fonio-BZ.v4.0.10# ps -w | grep snmp
1348 admin 8820 S /usr/sbin/snmpd -C -c /etc/snmp.conf -f -LS 0-4 d -Lf /dev/null -p /var/run/snmpd.pid
2119 admin 1640 S grep snmp
fonio-BZ.v4.0.10# netstat -ln | grep -E "tcp|udp"
tcp 0 0 192.168.1.26:22 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN
netstat: no kernel support for AF INET6 (tcp)
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:48000 0.0.0.0:*
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:58252 0.0.0.0:*
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:10001 0.0.0.0:*
udp 0 0 0.0.0.0:58977 0.0.0.0:*

This does not happen on my UAP-AC-Pro (gen2) devices, where SNMP works OK after upgrading to 4.0.10.

I have downgraded the UAP-Pro's until a fix is available.

Showing the same here and have not updated yet (still on 4.0.9.9636) so probably not related to the latest update.

Each of the AP-Pro WAPs I've upgraded to 4.0.10.9653 stops responing to SNMP requests. Other model WAPs I've upgraded are fine.

12x UniFi AP-HD upgraded from 3.9.54.9373 to 4.0.10.9653.

SNMP, CPU, Memory within normal operational range.

Performance on the other hand has dropped.  iPhone 6 plus at 20 meters have dropped from 200mbps+ to 160mbps. Other devices have seen similar dropped to the excel spreadsheet below.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Kk-D5TNcm_-olg0kklhbDVO7GhgIJUIH356rq9mVse8/edit#gid=1773150...

Performance impact is a large concern for us.

issue no. 2 (after kernel panic) with AP AC PRO:

its seems that AP is not able to get his own dhcp address for guest network.

Please see attached img from getaway logs (gateway is an ER-4):

Due to above related issue i was somehow forced to disable guest wi-fi wlan on AP AC PRO - my syslog is spamed with this dhcp discover / dhcp offer between ap and gateway, and also ER-4 related dhcp logs are about 2000 pages in just coupe of days:

admin@gw:~$ df -h /var/log/user

tmpfs 486.9M 8.9M 478.0M 2% /var/log

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.10.9653 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

Mixed success.

1 Unifi Switch 8 POE-60W upgraded successfully from 3.9.27.8537 to 4.0.10.9653

1 AP-AC-LR upgraded successfully from 3.9.27.8537 to 4.0.10.9653

1 AP-AC-LR upgrade failed and bricked the device. No lights, factory reset does not work, cannot enter TFTP recovery mode, no IP, no packets sent to network (checked with wireshark, swhich reports TX packets but not a single RX packet), still sucking juice at 1.6W

Currently waiting if the local retailer will take it in or if I need to RMA to Ubiquiti (which would most likely cost more to ship than just buying a new unit).

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.10.9653 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

We upgraded our controller to 5.9.29 and Unifi AC Lite to 4.0.10.9653. All iPhone / iPad / iOS users above 10.5 versions no longer can access Youtube , Google Sites , Google Services , IMO.IM Messaging apps. We did PING test on the phone but they are able to ping to those sites but using the apps unable to access. Using Safari or Chrome browser also unable to access. We used Android phone to test it works well. All apple users are so unhappy. We have over 450 Access Points in network with over 2000 users live in network and its a terrible situation for us trying to make our users understand. We have done several layers of testing on every path but it rounded down to Ubiquiti products. We have multiple ISP and networks for load balancing too. We are in deep trouble right now and seeking urgent patch from UBNT to resolve this issue. Hope they can identify and rectify it at the earliest.

@nirajsg Downgrade them back to 4.0.9 with group config to do more than one at a time.  Here is the link for the AC Lite firmware.  I think 4.0.9 should have been released to controllers instead of 4.0.10 since there was no testing done to it all before it was pushed out.  https://dl.ubnt.com/unifi/firmware/U7PG2/4.0.9.9636/BZ.qca956x.v4.0.9.9636.181128.2214.bin

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.10.9653 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

Yeah, I have:

  • Power cycle PoE on switch
  • Restart switch
  • Removed AP & connected to another PoE switch
  • Connected AP to poe injector
  • "Forgot" AP from controller
  • Factory reset AP w/ paperclip
  • Attempted TFTP restore (no response from AP when in tftp mode)
  • Restarted controller (Windows server)

The thing seems to have lost all networking abilities

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.10.9653 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

Update it took many attempts at factory resetting the 5 AP Mesh radios to get them to come online,  I was able to get the new firmware loaded and they are now operating. Any idea what may of happened to these 5.

1- They all on different UNIFI POE switches,

2- They all had homerun CAT6 cables

3- All 5 were outside and had a Ubiquiti CAT/LAN surge protector inline

@KNIx Is there any chance your second AP-AC-LR lost power during the upgrade? (just curious)

Windows Controller 5.9.29.0

110 AP-AC-Pro's running 3.9.54.9373; chromebooks worked fine

upgraded to 4.0.10.9653 and once an access point had a few clients new clients would receive a 'DHCP lookup failed' error.

Many teachers complained for the day.

downgraded back to 3.9.54.9373 this morning and things are back in HappyVille.  Chromebooks have no issue connecting on busy ap's.  Teacher's reporting things working well again.

I am seeing higher DHCP Timout/Failures as well.  Some AP-AC-MESH units can only stay up for 30 minutes; no previous issues.

Controller 5.9.29.0 (Ubuntu)

50x AP-AC-MESH

5x AP-AC-PRO

@mattjoo Do the AC-Ms come up shortly after power-on, and then eventually stop beaconing?

The AP was connected to the switch on POE port and the switch is behind UPS so should not be. Only thing which would cause a power loss would be that the update provisioning from controller would have done the update on both the switch and AP at same time.

Anyway updated the controller, went to the local supplier and bought a new one to get the in-house coverage back. New AP upgraded fine.  (Although the new device now sits as disconnected instead of isolated. Waiting it out if it moves to isolated so I can config it with wireless uplink). Bought an USG also which also upgraded fine.

Next step is the cloud key gen 2, but that is not yet available in our market (est 31st Jan).

Seems the AP is not connecting to UniFi.  Field technician showed me that the AP was up through the UniFi App.  Full power cycle seems to fix the majority of APs having the issue.  We are using NETGEAR GS752TPP Switches.
