Safe to assume the issues people reported running this exact build, over in the beta forum, have not been addressed/fixed, as this is the same build?

Some of the issues were reported 5+ days ago...

Confused...

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

Between 'Stable Candidate' and 'Stable' on 4.0.21.9965, I see 1st gen UAPs were skipped.  If I loaded 4.0.21.9965 on some 1st gen UAPs....should I be worried and downgrade?

Thanks,

-Eric

No. If you're using 4.0.21 on your 1st gen UAPs and they're working fine for your needs, then you don't need to revert to an earlier release. I'll update the release post with this info.

Updated:

on my home site:

2xUAP-AC-Pro

2xUAP-AC-M

1xUSW 8 POE-60W

without issues and it lookes like the high RTT issue is gone with high traffic (in my case freifunk germany).

small hotel site:

2xUAP-AC-LR

one is updated successfully, the other one went disconnected, switchport is down.

Next I will try to restart the AP, but because it is on a remote site via PoE injector I'll have to wait for the contacts on site.

EDIT: after 15 minutes the AP was online again, but without firmware update installed, I'll try it again.

EDITEDIT: 2nd try went well...

Had same issue with an AC-Pro but on second try it completed fine.

Currently running in three different sites with no issues.  Overall equipment upgraded successfully:

4 UniFi 24 Swttches

2 Unufu 8 port 150 watt switches

2 AP HD

3 IW-HD

8 AP-HD Nanos

1 AC Mesh Pro

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

In using this firmware for about 9 days, I've observed:

- On the NanoHD it works very well, no noticeable issues

- On the AP-AC-PRO, I have had to restart it a few times because DHCP does not seem to be working, I can connect to the SSID but do not receive an address via DHCP.  The AC-Pro is broadcasting two SSIDs - one is both 2.4 and 5.0 ghz, which is the primary SSID and the one that fails to pass DHCP - it has another SSID assigned to just the 5ghz radio (I use it for testing mostly), I can connect to this SSID and receive a DHCP address.

I've downgraded our AC-Pros to 4.0.15.

I could be wrong, but my perception is that once a Unifi build hits beta, there never is any additional build for that version.  Issues found are apparently scheduled for fixing in a future version, never the current "in process" one.  I interpret labels like stable candidate and stable to really only be a Ubnt process tag, and have not-so-much to do with how well that build works.  Builds with significant enough issues might stop progressing, but most keep trickling on their automatic way to being tagged stable in the public area, without any changes being made to them along the way.  Even if there are some user reported issues with them.

Ubiquiti at home: Unifi Ctlr v5.8.30 on UCK at v0.11.12
USG at v4.4.22
US L2 24 POE at v3.9.42 and US 8 at v4.0.10
(2) UAP AC PRO at v3.9.42 and UAP AC IW at v4.0.10
(2) pihole DNS on RPi, Comcast 75/5 w/Motorola MB-8600 modem

Perhaps they just rushed it out the door to address this: https://www.zdnet.com/article/over-485000-ubiquiti-devices-vulnerable-to-new-attack/

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

Upgraded 2 of my nanoHD and 3 AC-Pro just fine. In my initial testing I’ve noticed my iPhone X is only connecting at a 433mbps. Used to be connected at 867 mbps. This holds true for all my APs. Anyone else experiencing this?

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

I did post in the other firmware release section, but not a single response?

X4 UAP LR v2 all bricked after update...

All showed orange ring and disconneted from controller (Cloud Key V1) ...not even a ping response to any of the access points... I had to tftp (I think it was called) by holdimg in the reset button, plugging into poe and releasing once it started flashing green/orange/green etc.

Uploaded the new firmware via PumpKIN and after about 3 mins it restarted and started flashing orange ring so disconected and plugged back into ceiling port.

Ohh the UAP LR went fine, but when i went to click the downgrade link (after the fiasco with the v2 models) in the controller it said failed? so im leaving it for the moment.

My other access point the UAP v2 spat back an error and didnt even allow the update (Thankfully)

Rich.

2nd post....

Just an update I cant actually downgrade my UAP LR even after numerous attempts... Status - Updating [Failed]
after a restart it said in green - Status: Connected [10HDX] then went to Status: Connected
Any idea's how to revert back to a different firmware that works ?

[ Edited ]

Upgraded from 4.0.15 (mix AC-LR-Lite, LR and PROs). Some clients now reports DHCP timeout or DNS timeut. Controller 5.10.11

And group upload limit still not works for wirelessly uplinked AP.

UPDATE: And I see ARP timeout too.

UPDATE 2: I noticed lower signal strength, TX rate and RX rate from some devices. Apple TV signal from 40% to 10%, TX and RX from approx. 350mbps to 150mbps.

I reverted back to 4.0.15. Very bad update from my point of view.

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

I am having an issue at 2 sites with the same model wireless adapter (TP-Link WN822N v3 based on the Realtek RTL8192CU chipset) The adapter will work for a few minutes then it will stop passing data.  This seems to have been a problem with 4.0.14, 4.0.15, and still in 4.0.21 (I have the firmware rolled back to 3.9.54 now and the adapter works fine) I have read the forums for these releases and I am getting an IP addressand it works for a few minutes and sometimes it will work for a while, but eventually it seems to give me a yellow triangle and the adapter won't pass any more data.  I can disconnect and reconnect the adapter and it works, but it is intermittant, so it is hard to test.  Any thought or help would be appreciated.

Nope. The discovery protocol was limited to private IPs only back in 2017. Firmware 3.7.58 to be exact. But that article is geared as clickbait, more than factual. Man Happy

The above is a fix of the primary issue that everyone seems to be focusing on (the DDoS attack). There is still a bug in the discovery protocol, but this doesn't affect UniFi Network devices (UAP, USW, USG). Plus once they are managed the discovery protocol is disabled, so they wouldn't reply.

This still doesn't mean you shouldn't practice proper network security.. There are further things to discuss around this topic, but they are not firmware related so I'm leaving it at that.

Cheers,

Mike

EDIT: added clarification, then fixed a typo/slight rewording
