Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

Hi MikeD, I have noticed for a while that the 1st gen UAP-AP-LR devices will not upgrade anymore. Are these devices now considered out of support or is this due to a bug as menioned earlier in this thread. Just tried the latest update and all other devices update from 4.0.15.9872 to 4.0.21.9965 without issue.

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

Hello @GianBertorelli,

It’s an issue on 4.0.14 and 4.0.15, cache the firmware on the controller and upgrade once the firmware has been cached.

Settings > Maintenance > Firmware

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

Amazing Glenn, thanks very much! I tested it on one particular device which was still on 4.0.14.9736 which then updated to the cached version which was showing 4.0.15.9872. I guess I need to wait until version 4.0.21.9965 appears available for caching? Thanks again, very helpful.

Hello @GianBertorelli,

Check for firmware updates in the controller, or wait for it to popup.

Settings > Maintenance

You can also try upgrading via a HTTP link.

Thanks again, will give it a few hours to see if it pops up, it has for all the other devices.

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

Been runing this since it was out in Beta, and it still has the same IPv6 problem: IPv6 addresses from other VLANs are assigned to STAs.

Situation:

  • WAN on DHCPv6 with /56 prefix delegation
  • multiple VLANs, most with Prefix delegation with separate prefix IDs
  • three WLANs: one guest, one IoT and one WPA-Enterprise with RADIUS-assigned VLANs
  • Hardware see signature, everything is UBNT, USG handles WAN, DHCP and RADIUS

Problem:

  • STA connects to WLAN (static VLAN or dynamic VLAN both exhibit the same behaviour)
  • STA (usually) gets IPv6 in with correct prefix, can reach IPv6 internet
  • then, after some time, can usually be triggered through roaming to another AP (Fast Roaming is disabled), the STA will get one or more IPv6 addresses with a prefix from one of the other VLANs
  • then the STA can usually not connect to IPv6 anymore because it will try to send from the most recently acquired IPv6 SLAAC address

This has existed in all 4.0.x firmwares, I have reported it multiple times but never heard back. It can be reproduced with at least Windows, Android and Linux STAs.

+ UAP-AC-LR + UAP-AC-Pro + UAP-AC-IW + 2x UAP-AC-M + UAP-nanoHD + on 4.0.21
+ USW-8-60W + USW-16-150W + USG 3P + on 4.0.15 / 4.4.36
+ LXC controller 5.10.10

Hello @GreekLatinos,

Are you able to ping dl.ubnt.com from the UAP?

Have you tried a HTTP update?

Have you tried a upgrade via CLI?

curl <firmware_binary_link_location> -o /tmp/fwupdate.bin

syswrapper.sh upgrade2 &

All of my AP-AC-Pros that updated to this version starting acting flaky. Intermittant connectivity, and sometimes won't even let you connect to it at all (says unable)

Only way I've found to fix this is to reboot the APs

I have a UAP AC-LR - was runinng fine on 4.0.15 - 2.4 network is now very slow after upgrade even after reseting the AP.

Going to downgrade and hope for the best.

[ Edited ]

Hmm... Mixed results with this one

Got 1x AP-AC-Pro and 2x AP-AC-Lite, all 3 on 4.0.15

Updated one Lite, it came up properly.

Then tried to update the 2nd one, no luck, same firmware after it rebooted.

Tried again. This time it went "disconnected" for 30 minutes. Finally came up but with the old firmware...

I'm just happy that it came back up since I'm overseas. Not sure if I should try upgrading again. Thoughts? Don't want to break my parents' Internet with something that a power drain won't fix.

Also not too sure about updating my Pro now

(Controller: 5.9.29)

EDIT: Tried updating the 2nd Lite again, it went from Updating to Connected instantly and refused to update whatsoever. Rebooted it once again, issued fw upgrade and now finally at 4.0.21

EDIT2: My 8 POE-60W Switch upgraded fine on the first try. My AP-AC-Pro failed similarly to the Lite. Last seen 20 minutes ago... Zzz

EDIT3: After 30 minutes the Pro came back up with old firmware and a nice entry in Events log (which did not appear for the Lite even once): upgrade failed: firmware check failed (error: 17). Caching or un-caching the firmware doesn't make a difference

EDIT4: Holy moly this is the hardest upgrade ever that I did. Still failing after multiple restarts and retries

EDIT5: Finally upgraded the Pro after 2 more retries and reboots

Ugh

@UBNT-MikeD

Any chance we can look at the upload bandwidth limit not being respected on wireless uplinked devices please?

Happy to do any testing. Seems to be a long standing issue and surprised more people are not noticing it?

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

I have succesfuly updated all of the following devices without issue:

UniFi Switch 8POE-150W

UniFi Switch 24

UniFi Switch 8

UniFi AP-AC-LR

However I was not able to upgrade any UAP-LR gen 1's to anything until Glenn suggested caching the upgrade in settings, maintenance - Thanks Glenn, worked a treat.

But the only rub was you can cache all the various models to 4.0.21.9965, except the UAP-LR Gen 1's, which is still showing the ability to cache to 4.0.15.9872 only.

I have waited all day and the latest version has not yet popped up for these babies. But all the other models have worked all day since updating without incident.

. . . . . just waiting for that gen 1 update :-)

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

There seems to be something amiss with the SIP module (baresip) that loads on the UAP-AC-EDU units.  It works perfectly under 3.9.54 connecting to my ShoreTel (Mitel) system.  Any time I test out a 4.x firmware the SIP connection never seems to work.

The UAP-AC-EDUs do have active internet connections when they boot, and the logs indicate they are downloading the packages as intended, but no working SIP registrations.

I do find it interesting that the UAP is trying to make connections before the br0 interface has an IP address.

They didn't push 4.0.21 to stable for 1st gen units. 4.0.15.9872 is still the latest available stable release for those.

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

[ Edited ]

Ah ha, changing the SIP Server and Outbound Proxy from a designated Shoretel SG switch to the SIP Virtual Switch fixed the problem for the 4.0.21 firmware.  The UAP-AC-EDU registers now.

Cheers,

EDIT:

May have spoke too soon.  After power cycling a WAP to test that it would actually come back up and work, no joy with SIP

registration.

It may be some quirkiness on the ShoreTel side.  If I change the registration point around it'll work until the next reboot.

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

Quick update...

Downgraded to 4.0.15.9872  and all is back to normal.

Utilization is still high but the through-put is consistant and faster.

Easiest test was with IPTV - could not stream with 4.0.21.9965 (just the IPTV running) - but I can stream with 4.0.15.9872  while also running a large windows download and three security cameras streaming to a DVR.

Same config.... wonder what it could be.
