Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

Let me add to my last post regading Broadcast to AC-EDU not working,

Even if the AC-EDU runs 4.0.15.9872 but the switch it's connected to runs 4.0.21.9965

Broadcasting does not work.

You should be able to easily reproduce this in your lab. Please UBNT can you aknowledge this bug?

Please give kudo's to the people who have helped you and mark your thread as solved when you receive a solution to your issue.

thanks for the heads up on 4.0.21 and SIP registration issues.  We have kept all of our AC-EDU units at 3.9.x code (due to the issues of SIP registration in 4.0.x) for now and will likely remain there until there's an overriding reason to upgrade.

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

I just updated the controller to 5.10.17 and then saw this firmware available:

UniFi AP-In Wall 4.0.21.9965

So I updated the In Wall, but now adoption fails on it.  I "forgot" it and power cycled the port.  It comes up with the 4.0.21 firmware showing and tries to adopt, but it always fails.

What username and password should I be using?  Should I use my main unify one?  Or ubnt/ubnt?  Or the ssh one that is set in the "Device Authentication" section of the Site?  Nothing really seems to work.

I second your post. Same results; tried power cycling, still won't adopt. I also tried downgrading to v4.0.15, but was unable to

Thirded.

Controller upped to 5.10.17, AP-LRs upped to 4.0.21. Some won't go online with no network activity, some working but with issues and can't downgrade them to 4.0.15.

Also reporting issues with UniFi AP-In Wall and 4.0.21.9965 across multiple sites. This would be the 2.4ghz only UAP-IW not the AC capable model.

Errors come in 2 varieties so far:
1. Users would see the SSID but "can't connect to this network" on windows
2. Users connect but do not have internet access

Fortunately I can downgrade to 4.0.15 using the "custom upgrade" option on the AP config tab and pointing it to the 4.0.15 download link.

----

I am concerned for one of my client site's UAP v1 and UAP-LR v1 (green led model), downgrading from 4.0.21 seems to fail everytime.

I've had the same issue with the AC-Pros, I'm also getting a lot of "DHCP Timeout Requests" on 4.0.21 showing in the WiFi Experience score as well.

@envie how did you downgrade using the custom upgrade option? Did yours adopt after upgrade?

I'm also getting lots of those dhcp timeout requests error messages, but I figured those likely always happened and I just never saw them because I never had that metric on the dashboard before.

I am also seeing a lot of dhcp timeout request error messages for almost all devices for only one site (almost all devices having 0% experience but everything works fine).

Other sites are scoring 95 - 100 % OK...

Difference between the sites:

Low score: windows domain controller is providing the IP adresses

High score: Synology NAS or a Cisco router is providing the IP addresses.

Maybe that has something to do with it? My controller is 5.10.17.

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

After I upgraded our APs I see on controller, that they are constantly switching between full speed and 10 HDX. Every few minutes they drop to 10 HDX and then back. I cannot downgrade, system not allowing it. Man Sad

Same here for AP-LR and AP-OD+

Cannot downgrade to 4.0.15 because of 'Invalid Image Layout'

Any hint ?

I see the following in the release notes:

  • 1st gen UAPs may require extra steps when upgrading from firmware 4.0.3. You can try disabling all WLAN groups, and then running the upgrade. Devices that are seemingly "stuck" on 4.0.3 may require TFTP recovery to upgrade from that firmware.

  • All supported 1st gen APs need to be on a minimum of 4.0.10 prior to upgrading to this firmware. Controller 5.10.3+ will force an upgrade to 4.0.10 prior to upgrading to this release (only if your device isn't running 4.0.10 already).

SPECIAL NOTE about 1st GEN UAPs:

  • If your 1st gen UAPs are running 4.0.21, and they're working for your needs, then you can leave those devices on 4.0.21. There is no need to revert. We just want to fix a few bugs since the switch to LEDE framework.

Maybe this will help those upgrading UAP v1 APs.

My AP-LR is performing very poorly since the upgrade to 4.0.21. These so called stable upgrades are being pumped out like McDonalds burgers with little testing.

When I fire up the dashboard, it wants to downgrade to 4.0.15 but despite trying 12 times it fails each time.

Also trying the downgrade from SSH fails.

So it is stuck.

What gives Ubiquiti? This situation is certainly not good enough.

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.21.9965 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable

Thanks for the suggestion, but I had no problem upgrading from 4.0.15 to 4.0.21 from the UI.

The problem is that after upgrading all our 10 AP-LR and 2 AP-OD+ they continoussly switching between 10HDX and 100FULL, and is not possible to downgrade to 4.0.15 because of 'Invalid Image Layout'.

If you have AP-In Wall gen 1 do yourself a favor and DO NOT upgrade.

The dashboard does now show a "downgrade" which should help speed things up. Offsite downgrade may not work, I had to manually reset.

Good to know... I can't find the documentation on TFTP recovery?
