Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.30.10217 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable Candidate

Tried this update today on my US-8-60W and nanoHD, and noticed that my IoT device (on channel 11ng) in the next room would no longer connect to the nanoHD. Resetting the device didn't help, but as soon as I rolled back the nanoHD upgrade to 4.0.21, it connected fine again. So there seems to be a breaking change in the 2G behavior.

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.30.10217 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable Candidate

My post was not meant to start people going down the rabbit hole. I agree that this firmware us much needed. The only issue I've experienced is the FDX issue and it's fixable by a reboot, so it's a non issue for me. Just wanted to make sure the dev's were aware as this specific issue was not directly responded to from what I remember in the early access threads.

As for the difference between stable and stable candidate, I only meant that the issue above be acknowledged before pushing this FW to the next version.

[nanoHD/IW-HD] Fix wireless uplink packet forwarding issue.

Finally this was fixed.

Over 2 months of correspondence with support and final outcome was that there is no problem.

Now that problem (that wasn't there) seems to be finally fixed.

[ Edited ]

I upgraded my two home AP-AC-LRs and, despite the wailing and gnashing of teeth in the forums, it went without a hitch.

Both APs came back at 1000 as expected (Plugged into a Netgear GS108PEv3) and have been working with with my clients:

  • Garmin Vivoactive 3 Music Watch
  • Fitbit Versa
  • Lenovo Laptop
  • Google Pixel
  • iPhone 7
  • 2 different iPads (one ~4 years old, one ~2 years old)
  • Ring Doorbell, Ring Floodlight
  • Raspberry Pi
  • Nexus 6
  • HP Printer
  • Panasonic Airconditoner Unit
  • EEEPC (701)

No obvious issues etc.

Obviously, this is a tiny 2 AP home network, so I don't at all expect it to reflect the massive networks most of you people manage.  Just another (tiny) data point.

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.30.10217 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable Candidate

Upgraded my USW8-150W and nanoHD.  Running controller 5.10.21.  After running for 24 hrs, I'm seeing assocation and DHCP failures on the dashboard.

I know this had been seen in the beta releases, but not sure if there was a update on root cause/remediation...

Getting a lot of  /sbin/logd exited with code 256 and restarted by inittab

This is on 4.30 and on a Unifi-AP-HD.  Controll 5.11.10.  This is only happening on one AP, so far.

Cameras are getting kicked off my 2.4G network again - was not an issue on 4.0.15.

Time to downgrade again....

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.30.10217 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable Candidate

Manually updated my UniFi AP-nanoHD from firmware version 4.0.21.9965 to 4.0.30.10217 a few days ago. I did this because the AP keep disconnecting randomly doing the day (none of my AP-AC-PRO's have this behavior). So hoped a firmware update would fix this. It did! For 3 days atleast.... Now it switches between 'Disconnected' and 'Adopting' but newer back to 'Connected' before a powerreset. The funny thing is that although it says no devices connected, all my devices work on that AP.

All other devices are on released versions

Cloudkey firmware v: 0.9.8.6355eb6.190307.1515

Cloudkey controller v: 5.10.20-11657-1

UniFi AP-nanoHD befor v: 4.0.21.9965 (random disconnected, no wifi access)

UniFi AP-nanoHD after v: 4.0.30.10217 (random disconnected/adopting, full wifi access)

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.30.10217 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable Candidate

It’s a “stable candidate” that’s why.  When they release it as “stable” that’s when it goes to the controller

Association failures and DHCP Failures have been seen since 3.9x. Were you not seeing these in the past? If so then this is something that should be looked into.

@UBNT-MikeD I just want to make sure I understand this thought process correctly.

After 4.0.21 was released I was ruged that if I wanted to be a part of the solution to the failed 4.0.21 release, I needed to sign-up for the Beta forums and test beta firmware to help ge thigns fixed quicker and be a part of the process.

I gladly installed .26, .27, .28 , .29 and .30.  And provided feedback.  While those released fixed some things, it broke others.  Plenty of feedback given in the beta forums.  I've even gone so far as to install new servers for syslogging, talk directly to tech support etc.

Now - In the standard forums, you've released the 4.0.30 version as a stable candidate even though it randomly reboots APs and causes them to overheat.

My quesiton is this:  at what point does the process lead your team to "hey this one is broken, maybe even dangerous, but it's broken in new ways that we can fix next time, but release it anyways so it fixes other bugs this time?"

You are taking a broken release and suggesting to fix it with another broken release?  Please - talk to me.  What is the process here?

Association tracking was added in this round of beta releases for the NanoHD, so its new for this device.

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.30.10217 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable Candidate

Hey,

Updated 3 UAPG1 from 4.0.21.9965 to this.
In the last 24h this worked fine. No eth-negotiation errors, no dhcp-problems for now.

This looks defenitely good, had really serious trouble before. For my UAPG1 this is a real improvement.

I used furthermore the USMULTI on an US8 Rev. 10. Upgrade took terribly long, then I experienced severe broadcast storm. After disconnecting and doing a controlled reboot of the unit the broadcast storm is over. However I see lot's of

Apr 13 14:33:01 ssog.home ("US8P150,f09fc2602bb9,v4.0.21.9965") switch: TRAPMGR: Link Down: 0/5
Apr 13 14:33:01 ssog.home ("US8P150,f09fc2602bb9,v4.0.21.9965") switch: DOT1S: Port (5) inst(0) role changing from ROLE_DESIGNATED to ROLE_DISABLED
Apr 13 14:33:12 ssog.home ("US8P150,f09fc2602bb9,v4.0.21.9965") switch: DOT1S: Port (5) inst(0) role changing from ROLE_DISABLED to ROLE_DESIGNATED
Apr 13 14:33:12 ssog.home ("US8P150,f09fc2602bb9,v4.0.21.9965") switch: TRAPMGR: Link Up: 0/5

for different ports and furthermore still reporting of v.4.0.21.9956 and wrong unit type while the controller says it is running 4.0.30.10217 - either one is reporting wrong?!

Every hour I see:

Apr 13 15:32:57 ssog.home ("US8P150,f09fc2602bb9,v4.0.21.9965") syslog: ace_reporter.reporter_fail(): Unknown[11] (http://192.168.0.136:8080/inform)
Apr 13 15:32:57 ssog.home ("US8P150,f09fc2602bb9,v4.0.21.9965") syslog: ace_reporter.reporter_fail(): inform failed #1 (last inform: 104 seconds ago), rc=11

both problems existed with 4.0.21.x also before.

Hope this helps.

Got it, thanks for pointing that out.  Have only had the nano for awhile and wasn't aware this was a feature that was added to the other devices.

Re: [FIRMWARE] 4.0.30.10217 for UAP/USW has been released | Stable Candidate

Similar to others I decided to update to .30 because it was stable candidate.  BAD idea.

I then spent 3 hours rebuilding my network as things went nuts.  Most significantly ALL of my Apple devices and any IoT devices quit connecting reliably. My IoT stuff wouldn’t connect at all no matter what I did.

Downgrade to .21 and instantly fixed.

I’m gonna stick with stable from now on.  Beta has killed several of my gen 1 devices permanently previously, led to hours of rebuilds...I can’t take it anymore!

This release is a Stable Candidate, not a GA Stable release.  As such it would not be available via the controller and would only be available via the blog posting.
