Guest Portal - Expiration

Good day,

We are running Cloud Key with 4 AC PRO units at an office with low bandwith (very low bandwith).

In regards of this, we are using UniFi Guest Portal with expiration of 2 hours.

After two hours, the internett access stops for the clients.

We are getting feedback it is not easy to see if their clients is connected to Wi-Fi or not.

This is due to they are connected to the SSID, but they are not autorized after 2 hours.

But there is no easy way for the clients to know if they are autorized or not.

Any tips in this matter would help.

Well actually it is quite easy, just have the user open a web browser on the device; if the device is still authorized the url will open, if not, the captive portal will appear. Most mobile devices continuously check for internet connectivity and will open up their CNA/Captive Portal assistant when they detect that the internet connectivity has disappeared.

This is all default device behavior and has little to do with the UniFi platform specifically.

Check out our UniFi API browser tool on GitHub. The PHP API client which it uses, can be found here on GitHub.
The thread on our UniFi Device Search tool can be found here, also check out our Captive Portal solutions for UniFi.
