Intel AC 9260 issues

Hi all,

My new Dell laptop have a Intel Wireless-AC 9260 NIC, and while it works just fine at work (Cisco AP's), I get some very strange errors at home on my AP-AC-LR.

I can connect to the network without problem and light use like web-browsing seems to work OK, but as soon as I try to put some load on the connection, like copying files, it stalls. I can get the copy-files progress dialog, but it doesn't show any progress or just a tiny amount of data copies, and then a few different things can happen:

- Either it hangs until I get a "an unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file".

- Or explorer.exe crashes and restarts.

- Or, very rarely, it manages to copy a littile bit more with just a couple of kBps transfer rate. Cancelling the job takes up to a minute or so.

This is copying files over SMB to/from either a Synology NAS, or another Windows 10 machine. I've had many many other Wifi-devices connected at home and none of them has had any problems whatsoever. Over wired network there's no issues.

I suspect it's a configuration issue, with some feature that needs to be disabled/enabled or whatever on the AP and/or Wifi-card, but just don't know where to start.

Grateful for any help!

Laptop: Dell Precision 5530, Windows 10 Pro, 1803.

Wifi driver: Intel 20.90.0.7 (latest as I'm writing this).

LAN:

AP: Ubiquity Unifi AP-AC-LR, 3.9.54.9373.

Gateway: USG 3P, 4.4.29.5124210.

Re: Intel AC 9260 issues

Hello @ancan,

What is the signal strength and Rx/Tx Rate of the client?

Clients > Gears ( top right ) > Customize Columns

Are you seeing the same results when using other cleints?

[ Edited ]

I'll check from the Unifi console when I get home, but I did look at the link speed on the client yesterday, and it varied a bit between 200-350Mbps or so. Client is only 4 meters from the AP so it's full signal strength. Also no conflicting Wifi networks nearby.

All other clients work just fine.

Re: Intel AC 9260 issues

Hi again!

RX Rate is on 400Mbps and TX rate varies a bit between 300, 360 and 400.

Re: Intel AC 9260 issues

Hello @ancan,

You could try older firmware on the network card.

For giggles, could you try the latest BETA firmware? ( follow this to sign up for BETA )
