Manufacturing Mixup, Gen1 UniFi Switches without 24V Support

[ Edited ]

We detected a mixup in our manufacturing line. Unfortunately, some gen1 UniFi Switches were manufactured without 24V support, even though the packaging looks like a regular UniFi Switch. We caught most of them before shipping to customers, but some of them made it into distribution.

We will need all users that are affected by this to head over too https://rma.ubnt.com and within the Problem Description enter the following text below.

AT-Switch Manufacturing Mixup

Once this is entered into the field, the RMA Team will know to process this as a Advance RMA.

Since this is a Advance RMA, we will be sending a return label for the AT Model.

Affected Units are:

SKU

Affected Range (Test Date)

US-8-150W 10/9/2017 - 10/12/2017
US-16-150W 10/10/2017 - 11/20/2017
US-24-250W 10/26/2017 - 10/27/2017
US-48-500W  11/16/2017
US-48-750W 11/16/2017

If you have it adopted to a controller, the Model would show the letters `AT` in the name, like this

We are sorry for the inconvenience that this might cause you! We want to assure you that 24V is here to stay with gen1 switches.

Bummer, if you guys want to do a clearance of that inventory I‘m certain there might be plenty of interest among people who understand the limitation. I‘d actually prefer the AT models for my work network upgrade - no passive PoE equipment around and the ATs are just safer there.

Re: Manufacturing Mixup, Gen1 UniFi Switches without 24V Support

awesome job getting on to it so fast and sending out replacements!
like the others said if the unit is still 100% reliable and won't have any firmware issue down the track etc
you may as well sell the units at a discount all you would have to do is record the MAC ID and stick a big hard to remove sticker on the box and the unit its self saying "custom model 24v not supported" Man Happy

If you are affected by this, please contact @UBNT-DavidS and provide him the MAC ID and test date (if possible) and we will switch out your units.

This fast, transparant communication is how it should be. Mistakes can happen, but the communication following the error is how costumers experience these things... Well done.

Re: Manufacturing Mixup, Gen1 UniFi Switches without 24V Support

Yup, I got stung - just bought mine this thursday. I have a couple cams to power up on it, so no 24v means I'm keeping the nasty power blocks until she's RMA'd.

Thanks for the heads-up on this issue!

Re: Manufacturing Mixup, Gen1 UniFi Switches without 24V Support

I recently purchased two 16 port switches, and neither of them have the 24v support. With my new account, it appears I don't yet have the ability to send private messages. I'm hoping I can get these 2 switches exchanged for verions that would enable me to power the 24v devices we have in our network.

Thanks for the help.
