Move Unifi controller to new server

Was running old 3.x version of controller on Windows Server. Lost the box.

Configured new 5.5 on linux

Set IP of new controller to same IP as Windows.

Imported the backup settings of old controller. (Could this be an issue since backup was of much older version)

I adopted all the APs and pushed out the configs. They are all connected.

But no clients are reconnecting to them. Any starting points of fixing this?

and would I be better off just forgetting these AP's all together. Build out the controller (linux) again and do a clean install manually recreating the Site. (it is small)

Dashboard shows WLAN active devices. But says Unifi AccessPoint Required ...Please connect at least one UniFi access point to enable Channel Occupancy Chart.

Zero Clients

1. EdgeMax Router we use to power AP's and Route Traffic Would the edge router bec considered and UnifiSecurity Gateway or that is separate hardware?

Do I need to upgrade the EdgeMax?

I notived on the EdgeMax Under DHCP Servers for Wireless Networks. The UnifiController is set to the EdgeMax not the Controller. But this setting has been there before the change, and everything was working.

Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Move Unifi controller to new server

Issue resolve by upgrading AP FW
For v3 (and beyond): nohup syswrapper.sh upgrade http://ip-of-controller:8080/dl/firmware/BZ2/version-of-ap-see-ref-table-below/firmware.bin

Re: Move Unifi controller to new server

I would wipe it and start fresh. You can't import an old backup into new software (well, I guess it's technically possible, but doesn't work).

Re: Move Unifi controller to new server

Just finished a fresh install.

Controller say all new APs.

Configured WLAN networks and provisioned devices.

still no users are connecting.

using same SSID/Password

Do the clients have to connect like new or should their existing (matching) settings just work?

Is there anwhere in the Controller that I have to tell it about the EdgeMax router that controls the traffic, and provides the static IP's for the AP's (via DHCP server/static on the edgemax)

Thanks,

Re: Move Unifi controller to new server

The clients should auto reconnect (assuming the SSID and security settings/password are identical).

There isn't a place to tell the controller about the edgemax, but you need to ensure that any network settings (ie vlans, trunks and native networks) align with the configuration of the edgemax.

Re: Move Unifi controller to new server

All the settings are identical (all the setting we have are SSID/PWD/VLAN)

Users cannot see the SSID or reconnect. I am lost.

Re: Move Unifi controller to new server

Under RADIO2G all AP's show

Default        Auto(Disabled) / Auto

Could this be an issue and if so, how do I change it?

thanks,
