Re: No DHCP for Wireless Clients

Oh, I'm definately grasping at straws here. I figured this was an easy "try".

@RobbieH I certainly appreciate your help and I will try anything!  But it didn't seem to help Smiley Sad

We're gonna get our outside IT support company to take a look at the DHCP server and dig around.

Re: No DHCP for Wireless Clients

Leave it at 5 for a while, it may take a bit for everything to switch over.

You might try 3 later, but 5 seems to be what's fixing Android and iOS 12.

Your DHCP server doesn't have any firewall installed/running, right?

Re: No DHCP for Wireless Clients

@RobbieH  WIll do.  Our DHCP server has WIndows Firewall on for domain networks, but I tried turning it off - no change.  We have a Cisco ASA appliance between us and the outside.  Something happened between 9 and 9:30 this morning that caused this, or at least that's when all the AP traffic dropped off.  May take a look at the SBS server logs and see if there's anything.  We are a small business and I am "IT Support" by default.  I know enought to get around for the most part, but we have an outside vendor for the heavy lifting.

Re: No DHCP for Wireless Clients

I'm not picking on you at all, but I never understood the use of Windows Firewall within a domain, especially on a server. It's asking for trouble if you ask me. For clients I've always set up GPO so that firewall is disabled while on local LAN, then enabled the minute the computer leaves the network.

If your GPO hasn't been altered, your firewall may be turning itself right back on after you disable it. Default is to enable everywhere. I have mine set to disable on local, and I get to see the warnings on my server all the time. Man Happy

Re: No DHCP for Wireless Clients

Hello!

I'm facing the same problem as well!

It started after upgrading my UAP-LR-v2 to the latest firmware (3.9.54).

Hello @triplegee,

Have you tried to reset the network configurations on the devices?

Re: No DHCP for Wireless Clients

Do you have the link for the 3.9.42 firmware for Unifi AP and AP-LR?

Re: No DHCP for Wireless Clients

@Saleh9416 when you say "I have the same issue", can you be more specific?  I doub't that you're having issues with a windows DHCP server...

Please take a look at "Debuggin intermittent connectivty" (link in my signature), specifically on tracing packets through the network.  We need to know, for the client's having the issue, what kind of network communication is and is not possible.

If you'd like to try our latest features, consider signing up for beta: https://help.ubnt.com/hc/en-us/articles/204908664-How-To-Sign-Up-for-Beta-Access

If you're trying to debug a network issue, take a look at this help article: https://help.ubnt.com/hc/en-us/articles/221029967-UniFi-Debugging-Intermittent-Connectivity-Issues-on-your-UAP

Re: No DHCP for Wireless Clients

Our outside IT vendor (who sells and installs Ubiquiti products) came in yesterday and tried a few things.  He could not find any real issues.  We installed the DHCP server on anither VM, which didn't help.  So we purchased and installed four new UAP-AC-LR access points, which solved the issue.  So we really never found the issue, but it is resolved.

Re: No DHCP for Wireless Clients

Under the settings for your wireless network - Advanced Options - Do you have the "Block LAN to WAN multicast"checked?

This will either need to be unchecked, or you will need to add the MAC address of your DHCP server to the exception list.

Re: No DHCP for Wireless Clients

Hitting the same issue, after updating to 3.9.42.9152.

Device connects, but is unable to get a DHCP lease. Other clients on the same AP are able to get IPs. Doesn't seem to be affecting that many clients (~1% of connected clients). Easy to spot by filtering client by "169."

May downgrade the APs to 3.9.27, however will see if I can spot any issues in the traces...

Re: No DHCP for Wireless Clients

I'm experiencing the same thing. Firmware 3.9.54.9373 controller 5.8.30. Saw this behavior in a remote location - and, just had it happen here in our corporate office. Bouncing the the WAP resolves the problem... In my case, I have 3 SSIDs - 2 on one VLAN and one on a different VLAN. Only one of the SSIDs exhibits this behavior - and, it is the one that uses WPA Enterprise/Radius.

I'm thinking this latest firmware introduced the issue...

Re: No DHCP for Wireless Clients

Hitting it in 3.9.42.9152 as well, so don't think it's 3.9.54.9373 specific.
