Re: Raspberry Unify Update to 5.10.12-11629-1 not posssible ??

Hello @jhaverson,

Try the following.

echo "JAVA_HOME="$( readlink -f "$( which java )" | sed "s:bin/.*$::" )"" >> /etc/environment

Could you check if your controller is reachable?

Re: Raspberry Unify Update to 5.10.12-11629-1 not posssible ??

Controller is reachable and working flawlessly on 5.10.12 in spite of my error messages.

I attempted to run the command provided --- no dice --- tired it with extra sudo commands to no avail:

sudo echo "JAVA_HOME="$( readlink -f "$( which java )" | sed "s:bin/.*$::" )"" >> /etc/environment
-bash: /etc/environment: Permission denied
pi@raspberrypi:/ $ sudo echo "JAVA_HOME="$( readlink -f "$( which java )" | sudo sed "s:bin/.*$::" )"" >> /etc/environment
-bash: /etc/environment: Permission denied

Hello @jhaverson,

You could create the file... but it's not required.

touch /etc/default/unifi
echo "JAVA_HOME="$( readlink -f "$( which java )" | sed "s:bin/.*$::" )"" >> /etc/default/unifi

Re: Raspberry Unify Update to 5.10.12-11629-1 not posssible ??

I solved it by updating java.

I followed this guide: https://gist.github.com/ribasco/fff7d30b31807eb02b32bcf35164f11f

Re: Raspberry Unify Update to 5.10.12-11629-1 not posssible ??

These instructions worked.  The other site listed previously is quite old and contains much old information.

The only downside to this instruction set is you are adding another repository to your apt setup, so maybe you don't want to do that.

Hello @fireboy,

Don’t see the downside of it...the PI comes with an old JAVA version, thats the downside.

Re: Raspberry Unify Update to 5.10.12-11629-1 not posssible ??

I followed the recommendation to update Java and it seemed to work for me, however, I am not able to access my controller through the cloud access console anymore and while I am able to access locally, what I thought was the correct local username and password to access it is not working.  It is possible that I am using the wrong one and unfortunately I did not setup SMTP service on this particular controller to reset the password.

Hello @itbedguy,

You need 64bit JAVA for Cloud Access.

Re: Raspberry Unify Update to 5.10.12-11629-1 not posssible ??

[ Edited ]

OK.  Thanks.  So, in my current cofiguration the cloud option is not available anymore when I updated to 5.10.12?   If that is the case then you may want to update the release notes.  You guys did note that Arm v6 is not supported for cloud access, but, didn't say anything about Arm v7 or the requirement of 64-bit version of Java.  I of course could have totally missed that requirement somewhere else in the release notes.

In the release notes:

Cloud Access feature in this release is not supported on Linux/ARMv6 architecture (e.g. Raspberry Pi 1).

Re: Raspberry Unify Update to 5.10.12-11629-1 not posssible ??

I have tried everything here. Still shows those errors on startup, but no longer says failed.

I still cannot access the controller though, just get a can't be reached error.

On latest java and pasted your cmds into terminal successfully. Still nogo for me though.

Also, all wireless devices cannot connect now.

Re: Raspberry Unify Update to 5.10.12-11629-1 not posssible ??

Nevermind, the update just broke my custom USG setting to disable NAT and Firewall since it is behind one. Really wish they would put that in UI like they claim they are going to.

Still lose these settings even though I did the save json file like it says we can.

Re: Raspberry Unify Update to 5.10.12-11629-1 not posssible ??

Just wanted to feed back that I spent days on getting from 5.9 up to 5.10.12 (and now 17).

Raspberry - had 5.9 working like a charm.

Thought it was mongodb and just could not figure it out - till i read your post here (maybe make this a bit easier to find in search for others). It was Java. Then finding the right java upgrade story.....

and here I am - all working with a cool dark theme. THanks so much for your advice

Re: Raspberry Unify Update to 5.10.12-11629-1 not posssible ??

@AmazedMender16

Thank you very much for the quick and concise approach for outing an invalid/outdated Java runtime.

It worked beautifully for me, and my unifi upgrade from 5.9.x to 5.10.x was a success because of it.

I placed the actions which I performed in somewhat-generalized form in-case anyone else having this issue wishes to see it beginning-to-end:

Linux - Updating Unifi 2019-02-15_05-06-19.sh

(Environment - Raspi 3 Model B - Debian)

Have exactly same issue with 5.10.17.

A rollback to latest 5.9 fixed my problems.

But i execpt i need to fix this issue myself for next releases. I tried to edit config and changed pathes without effect.

Can somone provide a  clear "how to fix" finally (Line in config?)
