Succesfully setup a remote UniFi site, very nice. Using dyndns pointing to my controller (port forwards and firewall configured ok). It is working. Used the UBNT device discover utility to set the inform address to the dyndns address. All good.
Now, I'd really like to avoid having to set the inform address for each new access point, by using the EdgeRouter dnsmasq to forward the "unify" url to the dyndns address.
I searched the forums, some say it works, other it does not.
set service dns forwarding options cname=unifi,XYZ.dyndns.org
It does not resolve. Tried various permutation, including domain name. Somebody must have the solution to this.

are you sure you have open all required ports , and used the proper format for the cname ?

Ports: the APs does find and work with the controller using the "modified" inform path directly to the AP (to dyndns); so I assume my ports are OK.
The format I'm using is accepted by the EdgeRouter (taken from numerous posts here).
But, something is not working quite right...

PC on same LAN: "ping unifi" or "ping unifi.<xyz>.local" report host not found.
Have set cname=unifi,<xyz>.dyndns.org
Thank you for your reply !!!
