Showing 1000+ blocked by access control, but none are blocked

[ Edited ]

Possibly related to this topic, but I'm not sure:

https://community.ubnt.com/t5/UniFi-Wireless-Beta/Dashboard-Blocked-by-access-control/m-p/2603837#M7...

When I got into my dashboard, I'm seeing a large number of anomalies mostly noted in "the blocked by access control" area. Sadly, when I go to view my blocked clients per the link from the (i) logo, I see "no known clients". I think this issue has been on-going, but only recently revealed in the latest update.

Re: [BUG] Showing 1000+ blocked by access control, but none are blocked

Hello @Sawtaytoes,

And the device is not known by you?

After unblocking it the list cleared?

Do you still have the device?

Is the device onsite?

Regards,

Glenn R.

Re: [BUG] Showing 1000+ blocked by access control, but none are blocked

@Sawtaytoes
Change "Last 24 Hours" to "Show All".
And check if you have any MAC filters in Settings > Wireless Network > (click Edit on the WLAN) > Advanced Options > MAC Filter.

Hello @Sawtaytoes,

Filter the blocked list on ALL.

What does the UAP logs show?

Re: [BUG] Showing 1000+ blocked by access control, but none are blocked

I have one blocked client in the list. Last seen Oct 2018. Honestly, no clue what that device is or what caused it to show up so I blocked it ages ago.

Hello @Sawtaytoes,

Could you for giggles unblock it?

What are you seeing in the UAP logs?

Re: [BUG] Showing 1000+ blocked by access control, but none are blocked

I unblocked it.

Nothing in the Events area showing anything suspect. It's all "this device roamed to this other AP". Is there anything to look for? In the errors area, it's just some wireless APs going isolated when I updated the other night.

Now that number is 0.

So... It was a bug right?

Re: [BUG] Showing 1000+ blocked by access control, but none are blocked

No, I think there's something else going on. That device showed it wasn't seen since October 2018. Once I unblocked it, it's suddenly back. Does "last seen" show the last time it got an IP or something?

Also, I have no clue what this is. Looks like an Android device, but all my phones are Samsung; no one else is in my home either. My only thought is a neighbor hacked it, but I dunno if any of my neighbors are hacking WPA2/AES with what appears to be an Android device.

Re: Showing 1000+ blocked by access control, but none are blocked

[ Edited ]

I haven't found anything about that MAC online. Also, that AP it connected is in the middle of my house. At -49dB, I'd expect it to be right next to the AP; unless, the antenna's really large. Notice the Tx rate is 24 vs the Rx at 72.2. Could it possibly be someone trying to hack all networks in the area?

Re: Showing 1000+ blocked by access control, but none are blocked

Do you know how I might track it by pin-pointing using all my APs? I don't have any LG devices that I know except a dish washer which doesn't have Wi-Fi. And then it's showing as an Android device. I would probably notice if an Android device suddenly didn't connect to my network.

Hello @Sawtaytoes,

For giggles restart the UAPs?

To what SSID is it connecting?

Is it an open SSID?

Re: Showing 1000+ blocked by access control, but none are blocked

[ Edited ]

Found something else.

Traffic stats show UcTalk which sounds like spyware based on what I saw here:

https://community.ubnt.com/t5/EdgeRouter/Traffic-Analysis-UCTalk/td-p/1384528

That's only 37.4K though. The device hasn't connected since I unblocked it earlier. It's possible it kept trying, connected, then said "yep, I'm done" and went back offline.

[EDIT] Sounds like UcTalk might actually be Google Chromecast streaming traffic which someone else noted at the end of that thread.

I wish I could see excatly what web addresses were sent HTTP.

Yeah. I'd have to go outside on a ladder to change all my Nest Cam passwords, take down all my Nest Protects, Thermostats, reconfigure every light bulb and smart switch one-by-one; not going to happen. It would take a week or more to do it.

Re: Showing 1000+ blocked by access control, but none are blocked

Figured it out. It's not a phone, it's my wife's LG watch which she doesn't use much anymore. It wasn't on the same floor either, it was directly above that AP and that's why it registered so close.

It all makes sense now.
