UAP working with laptops, not iphones or andriod phones? DHCP problem?

Hi All,

We have a small office and have setup 2 UAP. However, only laptops are able to connect and run smoothly. iphones and andriod phones are able to connect and gets an ip, internet work for about 1 a minute and drops/intermittent.

Basic Information:

Problem: intermittent/drops for iphones and andriod phones even though shows connected

Model UAP

Server:  small business server 2011 (DHCP)

DHCP log - matched ip with my iphone and logs showed continuous renew for that device and other phones as well except for laptops.(does this mean DHCP lease expires to  fast??)

Tried: upgraded firmware of UAP, controller, checked settings with in controller.

Please advise. Thank you.  We are a small nonprofit and just want to make wifi work for efficiency. Thank you again.

Hello @wangxjj123,

Have you tried using a STATIC IP on the client?

Could you post your system config?

Settings > Maintenance > Support Info > Show System Config

Hello @wangxjj123,

Could you apply the following Radio Settings?

2.4 GHz
Channel width: HT20
Chanel: 1/6/11 | Choose one of these channels, a RF scan will help you choose the most clean one.
Transmit Power: Low/Medium

Have you tried a STATIC IP?

Re: UAP working with laptops, not iphones or andriod phones? DHCP problem?

Something very basic is wrong with your network; this

may have little or nothing to do with UniFi. Notice that

the two access points [which I'll assume use DHCP]

are on two different subnets.

This implies that there are two different DHCP services

running on your network--which is a very bad thing. That

typically happens when there are two different routers--

perhaps a wireless access point with with a router in it.

You don't describe anything about your network at all,

so it's difficult to help you. But this isn't about static IP

addresses--it's likely about routers in contention.   Dave

Re: UAP working with laptops, not iphones or andriod phones? DHCP problem?

Hi Davd-D,

Thanks for the reply.

The second subnet 192.168.0 is a netgear router that I actually found after posthing this issue. My coworker said he used this router and connected the UAP and the wifi works perfectly with iphones. However, our main subnet 192.168.1 never worked. I logged in the Netgear router and disabled the DHCP, even powered off the router. The UAP connected to our main subnet still has intermittent problem. Any ideas how I should move forward? I know that UAP is not the problem because it is only our main office that we can't get it to work. We have UAP in our other offices with simple network setup and never had any problem. Thanks.

[ Edited ]

Your screenshot indicates this DHCP service is still in

operation, because one UniFi access point received its

IP address from it--or the screenshot is no longer accurate.   Dave

Re: UAP working with laptops, not iphones or andriod phones? DHCP problem?

You have apparently resolved one of the network issues,

but it's likely more remain. Your second access point no

longer even appears on this list; that implies that you

still have a network sgement that is not properly attached.

It's possible the Netgear device is creating this mess;

remove that device completely from the network and make

sure you have connected the second access point [the one

that doesn't appear now] to the same network as the first

one. If you're using the Netgear as a switch, find another

switch.  Dave

Hello,

The other AP was setup using another computer with controller.  I can just reset it and try to get it working with the current one.
