Re: UniFi 5.5.20 Stable has been released

Security updates for network equipment are Critical Updates by default. There is no such thing as a low severity update for infrastructure. Exploits get rolled out very quickly these days and never go away.

I also had the problem where the unifi software would restart every minute or so. Switching from OpenJDK to Oracle java solved it for me.

Re: UniFi 5.5.20 Stable has been released

With v5.5.20 - there is an option of 3D design to map the WiFi strength/coverage.

And I have one question as I am not sure how to do this...

I have 2 house layout/diagrams. One for downstairs. And one for upstairs.

I have the AP-Pro icon for upstairs, in the hallway. I can see the coverage it covers.

But how can I see the coverage for downstairs from the AP-Pro upstairs?

Or not possible to do this?

Thanks!

It is a feature I have requested too: multifloor mapping.

The "3D design" is only a visual feature enabling you to visualize the walls in 3D.

Running absolutely fine on AWS - Ubuntu 16.04 LTS. Nothing installed on the server except the base image from AWS and Unifi.

It's also not a high spec machine - just the default "t2.micro" instance provided by AWS. I increased the SSD to 30 GB. System has 1 CPU & 1 GB memory.

Re: UniFi 5.5.20 Stable has been released

This is the 2nd time after a big update that my java process starts sucking up all the memory.  First time was from 5.3 to 5.4...  now after upgrading 5.4 to 5.5...  memory leak has returned.  The only way I could fix it before was completely wiping my server and starting over clean and loading a backup.

This server is running vanilla ubuntu 16.04 LTS,  nothin special

Does any testing go into these updates? I'm never seen such tempermental software.....

Re: UniFi 5.5.20 Stable has been released

A bit offtopic perhaps, but is there any way to downgrade from 5.6.x to 5.5.20? I would like to go back to following the stable branch, but I don't want to scrap my database and do everything over again. If I just install 5.5.20 over the unstable version, the gui won't start, it just gives me a "we don't support upgrading from version 5.6.12" error message. I run unifi 5.6.12 on Debian 9.1.

No, you can't do that. Only if you have a backup of the 5.5.20 settings you can go back.

Re: UniFi 5.5.20 Stable has been released

Thanks, I installed latest version this week-end, based on 5.6.X. LXC with 1GB and 4 virtual core running on NUC using Proxmox, and it works now. I use Ubuntu.

I simply did a apt-get update & I moved from non working to working. Now I need to stick to that SW version Man Very Happy
