Re: UniFi Cloud Key firmware 0.12.0 has been released

Have been following this discussion (and others on same subject) and correct me if I am wrong, but these ports only need to be open for egress (outbound LAN to WAN traffic). I would not think it safe to have 8883 open for ingress (WAN to LAN) traffic.

If I am correct (and I may not be as I am still learning here), I think it needs to be clarified somewhere in the discussions other than just saying ports x, x, and x need to be open. Prevent someone (newbie) from inadvertantly opening a port to possible intrusion.

Re: UniFi Cloud Key firmware 0.12.0 has been released

@AmazedMender16,

I already read that linked article, but it does not answer the question I asked about it being INBOUND or OUTBOUND. That is why I specifically asked about the direction.

I suspect it's only needed outbound. I know it is not needed in either direction for 5.8.30 controller to work with Cloud Access.

@pcmedic2k,

Your comment is precisely what I have been asking here, and that no one has answered yet. I, too, suspect that they mean egress and NOT ingress being open, because as I noted, that would defeat the purpose of having the Cloud Access feature.

UBNT needs to be more specific in there instructions.

Not sure if you saw this, but perhaps this will help.

Port 8883 must be opened for outbound traffic. Also if session is initiated from inside it must allow traffic inbound. No need to portforward it or such, just that it does allow established connections.

No, I had not. That is precisely what I wanted to know. "Egress Ports Required for UniFi Cloud Access" are only 443, 3478, and now 8883 apparently for 5.9.x controllers. My 5.8.30 works without 8883 open outbound.

Thank you for that link!

Updated our CK to v.12 two days ago. Blue light was on and our customers could connect to the wifi. The problem was our cloudkey was offline and when you went to the IP address, it said "Unifi service is starting please wait." After loggining via SSH, I did the commands here and it worked like a charm. No restore backup needed. Thanks so much for this quick fix

Hello @magellat,

I assume he was talking about repairing the DB.
